Why am I being flooded with posts about the reason TTRPGs are not more widely accepted/played? This is the golden era of TTRPG acceptance, accessibility, population, etc. All bigger than ever! It’s huge. Maybe all these posters were not around for the times when it truly was a niche hobby?

Big things brewing alongside important little business minutiae. I really don’t like doing it. But it’s good for the business and stuff that has to get done. Can’t just spend all the time writing. I’ve got to build the business side too, or else no one will know about my little indie TTRPG.

Its the annual, why the heck didn't I go to Gen Con feeling. Heh, I hope everyone who went has a great time and stays safe. Once the game is complete and I can demo and sell it, then maybe I'll finally go. We shall see.

I've been quiet on the indie TTRPG front due to fighting with the bank on my account. I have great art to show, but don't want to show it until I pay the artist and the bank has gotten in the way of that. Expect more from me soon on 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing' once this clears up.

All the hexes I am writing for my game’s setting have about three to four paragraphs of description. Set the stage. Give one cool thing to encounter etc. That is my preference because I want the setting to tell a story. Not everyone wants to write that much. I get it.

Wonderful D&D session tonight, if I do say so myself. I got to really ham up a bunch of NPCs at a ball, with a big bad guy reveal that ended in a cliffhanger. Players all seemed to really have a great time. Feeling pretty happy about that one.

I am not slowing down on 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing', I love where it is going, but I can write a lot faster than I can pay for art, so in the meantime other projects find their way to the front of my brain for a while. Let me know what you think? Sound interesting at all?

This is a reskinning of systems from my currently in progress game 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing'. Its hex crawl rules, but in space. Instead of building a Hearth, you have a ship. Instead of villagers, you have crew. Its a little bit the Expanse, a dash of Star Trek, and whole lot of Traveler.

You play Explorers. You and your crew have jump drive capable ship, and you can find out what happened to everyone else out there, one system at a time. Will you be welcomed by your distant long lost human cousins or will you have found them changed? Did they even survive?

Exploration is now possible again, due to newer, safer, slower jump drives, but we have no idea what is still out there, what remains of systems more than a few light years away, and communication with those systems has taken years up to now.

TTRPG Idea:
Humanity has spread to the stars, colonized a swath of the galactic gap, but then awoke something that makes use of wormhole drives too dangerous. With communication and fast travel between systems gone each system was left to its own for five hundred years.

I facepalmed when I read this in the original thread. That was your takeaway? That you did it wrong?

Good morning. I know I've not been too chatty here lately. Keep running into blockers I need to clear that no one cares about but me.
However, the cover for my TTRPG 'Of Hearth & the Harrowing' is done! I'll write up a blog post and update the website soon. And of course start showing it off here.

Was taking trash out. When I went by the pool saw this little guy clinging to the side of the bench. Fished him out, stuck him in a box and drove down to the neighborhood retention pond to free him. There I met this lovely couple and the larger turtle they were rehoming from their pool. Too funny.

When you succeed at something, document how you did it and share it freely. That blog post about your successful Kickstarter or stream setup could be the roadmap someone else desperately needs.

Of course real gamification would be marking these with quest rewards or experience points I would award myself for completing them. Not doing that. Nope. No.
But it might be fun to... no. Stop it.

I got bored of Kanban statuses like 'To Do', 'On Hold', 'In Progress' and 'Done' so I changed my Trello list for my indie ttrpg project to 'Quest Board', 'Imprisoned', 'Journeying', and 'Quest Turned In'. It's goofy and I usually sneer at gamification of things, but this one makes me happy.

Wrote NPC descriptions for the four major NPCs included in 'In the Shadows of the Southwall'. They all appear in the adventure site, the ruins of Helniss Manor. What will the heroes find in the ruins? Why corruption and loot, of course.

Seasons of Magic: perhaps the only game where you can save the planet by swapping minds with a sentient asteroid from beyond the stars. ;-)
