Trying out lighting.
I like the mystery and discovery of what's behind the darkness.

Haha oh myyy, I misunderstood - I thought that was a fancy inventory grid^^
But that sounds fun!
Looking forward to what you come up with around that :D

I am thinking the loops are loops of track and you are a train which can never stop, but you control points which switch you from one loop to another...

Loops...

...yes, this **is** the start of the layout system for an unconventional RogueLite.

I guess your question was rhetorical, then, I did wonder :-)

Good luck with the talk!

Weirdly, there is something hugely satisfying about this sort of binary space division...

I'm not the most massive expert, but I usually reckon on, say, 1-3 minutes per slide. But when I practice the talk, I almost always cut even more...

The 12th annual international Gender Census 2025 is now open until at least 30th August 2025!

It's for anyone whose gender (or lack thereof) isn't described by the M/F binary. It's short and easy, and results are useful in academia, business and self-advocacy.

The palm of my hand with a small, circular plaster applied to it...

I need either a) to get a proper cover for the dataport on my hand, or b) to learn that when improvising a tool to make holes for bulbs in the front lawn, that the tool won't have a proper handle and may well cause a blister if wielded enthusiastically...

Yeah. It's definitely one or the other...

One day you just can't get something "right", so you go back and study anatomy to help you figure it out. *That* is when you actually learn it, when it's most useful to you. So the path isn't linear, it's iterative. You go, you create, you learn, you create more, you learn more.

unread, unthreaded posts. So basically I find there is no way I can get/stay on top of it, and no easy way to find the content I want, and what happens is after a couple of days, without thinking, I stop looking... I will join that one and check it out, but I'm not optimistic...

@pedronunes.net Me neither! The trouble with discords is I usually bounce off them quite hard... I guess I'm more up for text chat than voice and Discord strongly tends towards being a pile of 20 unread servers, each containg 20-40 unread channels, each with an unknown number of [cont]

Which is great for having met a load of young devs... but jams are by definition temporary things... I guess I need to keep looking...

Well I guess I'm a hobbyist now... and like you I do watch for threads on here, wish-list people's projects and try to play their demos... Reddit I have never really grokked, if it comes up in search results I scan a conversation, but I can't imagine spending serious time on there...

chat?

Do you form teams? How closely do teams work? - Support from a distance? All on the same project? Just lending a hand when needed?

Other structures that work?

How does the mix of code/art/sound/design work out? Do you ever reach the point of needing a producer?

Does it make a [2/4]

I do like, zoomed in, how individual trees get a self-shadow on the left...

Could you (you've got me overthinking it now) create a simple mesh to cast the shadows and get a mid-ground that way?

It's I bet not your desired style, but if the shadow were black (or at any rate far darker) then I...

I think you have A and B the other way around this time?

I still prefer the colours of the (now) right-hand one, but the shadow algorithm of the left...

I still think the right one is technically more accurate, but it looks more complex and harder to understand...

This is interesting, I've been trying to build geometry from Voronoi polyhedra, and one way to seed them is to place the generation points on a grid, and one thing I've tried with the grid is mapping it onto a cylinder or torus...
