Were there moments that you missed? Anything that happened that’s on the cutting room floor?
I don’t think there’s anything I missed that I wish I’d gotten. I’ll give you a little anecdote: Stephen Miller was perhaps the most concerned about the portrait session. He asked me, β€œShould I smile or not smile?” and I said, β€œHow would you want to be portrayed?” We agreed that we would do a bit of both. And then when we were finished, he comes up to me to shake my hand and say goodbye. And he says to me, β€œYou know, you have a lot of power in the discretion you use to be kind to people.” And I looked at him and I said, β€œYou know, you do, too.”

Never, and I would be worried for anyone claiming they have, as I would see that as a symptom of lack of critical thinking. But there are many civil avenues to voice disagreement.

My impression is that Toronto is being ruled by its suburbs. So my question would be: β€œwhat do studies of public opinion pre- and post-amalgamation in other communitiesshow? What factors explain those results? If there is discontent, what studies are there of deamalgamation?”

Anecdote of course, but yes, I think that’s what happened. Here on Vancouver Island we elected Liberals for the first time in forever to deny a Conservative win.

Though having an ineffective NDP leader prodded matters along too.
