New: SonicWall is urging customers to disable SSLVPN as researchers report ransomware attacks targeting SonicWall firewalls. Particularly problematic for big companies that rely on these devices. Arctic Wolf and Huntress say it's likely a zero-day under attack but SonicWall is still investigating.

What are the good online classes out there to learn to make good charts in Excel? πŸ“Š

I'm looking for examples where trainers know both the technical side AND the dataviz practice.

I'm asking about Excel because it's such a mainstream tool for clients. We need to master it.

Let's make it a thread πŸ‘‡

Now that I am actually awake-awake, let's use the proper way to update chart data (via Observable Notebook 2.0) in Apache eCharts 6. Much smoother transitions.

Updated code: ray.so/v2plPDr

The new @observablehq.com Notebooks 2.0 work with "normal" JS, and I wanted to play with Apache eCharts' new beeswarm option & see about interactively randomizing the data for it.

Zero hacks.

It "just works".

Sadly, yes. I would also add that we should educate ourselves constantly about technology and train to see the lies and hallucinations and propaganda more clearly than ever.

The summary is 69 words of bullet points.

However, a big reason humans need to READ prose is so we can learn how to WRITE and COMMUNICATE better.

I would rather not live in a world where we just throw bullets at each other (via guns or AI).

The image shows two Google search interface mockups side by side. The left shows a traditional search results page for 'How to solo travel in Japan' with standard blue links and snippets. The right shows an experimental AI-organized version with the same query, featuring grouped results under headings like 'Comprehensive Guides for Solo Travel in Japan' and organized sections with a cleaner, more structured layout. Both interfaces maintain Google's familiar design elements but demonstrate different approaches to presenting search results.

This post on Google's "They Keyword" blog is *220 WORDS*.

The blog itself says it'll take the audio bot 60 secs to speak it to you.

SO WHY IS THERE A "READ AI-GENERATED SUMMARY" BUTTON?

We protect the ones closest to us with knowledge and facts about the limitations of the technology. That's really all we grunts can do.

Those in positions of power to do anything truly substantive to stop this have already been co-opted by the billionaires who want to rule over everyone.

Florida officials warn about risks of drinking raw milk after 21 people sickened Florida health officials say 21 people, including six children, were sickened by E. coli and campylobacter bacteria linked to raw milk, and seven were hospitalized.

I'm actually fine w/adult Floridians Darwining themselves with raw milk, but this also puts innocents in harm's way. Lots of folks are gonna needlessly die over the next 3.5 years thanks to a few million democrats who stayed home last November along with the ~30% of deplorable America who did vote.

AI is the technical equivalent of a gun in the context of summarization (not a danger in and of itself, just when some idiot human picks one up). And current AI – in the form of these daft probabilistic token generators – does in no way, shape, or form have the potential to tackle pressing 🌎 issues.

FWIW, this only gets worse w/large context windows, too. I've done scads of experiments w/commercial and local models. Even the ones tuned for "summarization" miss so much in long-form content.

If we don't stop this nonsense soon, we're going to end up with the shallowest & stupidest society ever.

Purdue student detained by ICE and taken to troubled Louisiana holding facility Yeonsoo Go, 20, was detained after her immigration hearing in Manhattan and taken away by ICE agents.

Go, a college student, has a dependent visa (her mother, an Episcopal minister, is here on a religious worker visa), which doesn't expire until Dec. But when she tried to renew it early, ICE nabbed her and sent her halfway across the US to a detention center.

Title: Recommended Mitigation Steps.

Until further notice, we strongly advise all partners and customers using Gen 7 SonicWall firewalls to take the following actions:

**1. Disable SSLVPN Services Where Practical**

Callout box: NOTE: All other steps below should still be followed even if disabling SSLVPN is not viable.
