12.10.2025 12:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It absolutely can be, and to be fair, the keep-away aspect happened when there was a player with a substantial lead, so everyone else was trying to do two things at once by moving leader's home planet while also trying to gather their own missing planets; it led to a lot of inefficient turns.
11.10.2025 16:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, we are jaded old board game veterans at this point, lol.
That said, I have a good board game group that let's me try things I probably would never pick from a shelf. I've discovered that most games with minis are not for me, and that I never knew how bad at negotiations I am.
I don't know how long you've been into board games, but I think everyone goes through this curve. You want everything under the sun in the beginning, but by the end you have a set of 15-20 games you want to play. We might be in the stage where we know what we like and can parse the meh games out.
11.10.2025 14:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I went from a heavy video game player to exclusively a board game player particularly because I wanted more human interaction and didn't want to hear vulgar language in my headset. Plus I feel my brain is more engaged in a board game versus sort of zoning out in a video game.
11.10.2025 14:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've played it, I think it's good, but the last third of the game can drag a bit with a game of keep-away.
Haven't tried it with the nebula module.
I made a board game Geeklist that is currently third on the front page of BGG for their hot lists. Check it out. Most wanted games, least owned

Interesting list! Although I feel very out of step: I own 4 of them and none of the others are on my wishlistπ€·ββοΈ Which isn't to say I might not impulse purchase some in the future; there's several I'd like to play, but possibly aren't a good fit for our collection of games. #boardgames
11.10.2025 14:29 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 3 π 0I think most of these fall under one of these categories:
-I want it, but price is a deal breaker
-I want it, but group won't play it
-I want it, but it's not avaliable
-I was curious, but I didn't want to forget about it
-I was sleepy and it seemed like a good idea at the time.
-It's Nokosu Dice
Anything that's a card game I absolutely take notice. Looking forward to how this develops.

11.10.2025 05:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This looks dope.
What's the central hook of this one?
Maybe it's cheating a bit since it uses a tarot deck, but Dino Trix has clear indication which cards have points and which don't.
10.10.2025 13:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is top of the list of games to back (and I hardly ever back anything) when it comes to crowdfunding next year.
So much to like here.
Picked up Crisps! and Big Wave recently, and now I have to go and pick up a few more trick-taking games again from New Mill.
It never ends but sometimes you gotta do the work.
It's funny how it begins with pretty neutral questions and it gets progressively more intimate until he slowly realizes what's going on.
05.10.2025 22:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So you like the surprises that can happen at cons with new experiences? Is that by choice or you sort of fell into that position?
03.10.2025 23:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My assumption is that you're trying to get the most of your time by alloting space for games that you know will bring you joy?
I can see the sense in that. Maybe I thought there would be a balance there between what you know and don't know.
For those who love #boardgames and go to cons, when you go to those cons do you play stuff you already know or go specifically to try out new things you've never played before?
How brazen are you in trying things you normally would not in your normal setting?
First Paper and pencil prototype of my board game design Soap Box Race
π²βοΈ Exactly five years ago, I playtested a very first version of what was going to be Soap Box Race. This might be the longest I've worked on one design, though much of that time I spent going around in circles because I was a novice designer. What's the design you've been working on longest?
03.10.2025 13:37 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Minnesota: Split bipartisan legislature.
Kept the government open. Invested in improving lives. Responsible budget cuts.
Washington: Republicans control House, Senate, Oval Office.
Government shutdown. Driving up health care costs by thousands. Skyrocketing national debt.
Frankly that sounds awesome.
01.10.2025 14:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On a side note, OMG, you're that Carol!
I was wondering why you handle name sounded so familiar.
I can't wait for the Six of VIII.
Ha, that helps. A willing partner is necessary. My wife wife will play a few times a week on occasion when she isn't super busy with work.
Crisps! Should hit the table soon, and she loves smallish card games the most. That should help out.
All that said, this weekend I'm going to FlamingoCon, so I should boost my play count soon.
01.10.2025 14:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I guess it's all relative. I don't play every day, at most three times a week, and also when I do play my group tends to favor longer games so we don't fill our sessions with that many games.
There is also the desire to play that often. I do have other hobbies that take up time.
Congrats! But also, that's still a pretty healthy amount of play. To some that's a whole 2-3 months worth of games, which then needs to be asked, what does a normal amount look like to you π ?
