Maybe check out other stuff they've made? I did that with Devolver Digital, I liked the company & wanted to support them but didn't like their most recent game, so I looked at other stuff they'd published and found Terra Nil which I love. No More Robots have lots of games to choose from

Oh, yeah that's risky. I just started an 18 month data analysis course and they're really playing up using generative AI, but I keep thinking however it goes anything they teach us now will be irrelevant in 18 months

In the .com bubble a lot didn't care about the company, product or users, they'd jump ship when it started failing and move on to do the same at another company. I suspect they'll do the same here. They don't want a success, just the money

I'm still confused by how I felt about Jamie Lannister being dyslexic. I didn't like him and didn't want anything in common with him, but it was still kind of cool to find out there was a dyslexic character in the story

Yeah I should really have read it through first, but I was an undergraduate and just trying to get my coursework done on time

OK yeah, this is similar to how I first read The Selfish Gene, because I'd been taught the concepts and then was referencing specific chapters, but even then it's not ideal and it doesn't work for anything with a narrative

This could maybe work with those business self-help books where the first few chapters are just telling you how great and useful their advice will be once they get to it, but not for any kind of narrative.

On PC they can just plug into the computer and get data on what to show directly (well, via their software) but I suppose TVs can't do that.

I can't say I've had that exact experience...

I love that they did that. You'd never get a kids game today encouraging you to build a web page then dumping you into a blank text box with some links to HTML guides. I'm not sure it was the best way to learn but it was a hell of a start.

I love the alt text on the first photo!

I waited until the first time I reforged the gold seal, then bought the expansions and that felt like a good way of doing it.

That's why I left. It helped that I never had a 'platform' or many followers, so it wasn't a big deal but it just got to be horrible to use. The flashing video adverts which still played with auto-play disabled were the final straw.

I think that one affected me more than any since Gwen (and with her it was mostly surprise that it was so soon). Atul made me think of people in real life saying they don't want a funeral because they don't want any fuss and being told it's not for them, it's for everyone else.

I was thinking that. I jumped straight to one interpretation and hadn't considered there could be others until I saw the replies, so it's interesting seeing the variety

Honourable mention, because I wasn't even playing it: Aunt May in Spiderman.

Obvious ones, because it's what they're about, but still worth mentioning: every time someone left in Spiritfarer, and the entire of Lost Words: Beyond the Page

Creatures 1, 2 and 3. That gravestone notification was a gut-punch every time. But especially Honey, Zing and Natalie (my first norn in each game).

I've been looking for a simple, no text puzzle game with no time factor to do while focusing on talks and I think this might be it 😊

Having recently rediscovered Edward Lear's poetry and art I'm convinced every generation has a different trend of nonsense humour. (For my generation it was flash videos about badgers and mudhrooms and gerbils(?) who liked the moon

After 14 years of marriage I think it helps if you like the same kind of music (so you can play it at home without annoying the other person) and similar enough food that you're not making 2 dinners every night, but anything else you can work out, and it's good to have your own interests

It's not true AI of course, but neither is current generative AI, and it can use machine learning

I doubt this is what they mean but games have used "AI" algorithms to control enemies for decades, so if a studio didn't want generative AI in their game and was under pressure from shareholders to use it they could just play up that tech

I had similar with web devs at my old job. I asked for what *exactly* was wrong with a site to pass info along and got an email where all I could say about it was "well, that's a lot of words", but apparently it was extremely helpful and they were very keen to explain further when needed

The wrong one.

I see this with a lot of games. I call it "pay to not play" - they buy a game then want to pay extra to skip actually playing it and just get to the end

They might have. In the article they're just giving a few examples of games they grew up with, and that's from before Pokemon existed. If someone got them to do a comprehensive list of games they've played throughout their life I'm sure it would included a much wider range

I think I the UK and some other parts of Europe PC gaming was more popular than consoles in the 80s and 90s.

Depends on which Nintendo console you're talking about. For a 10 year old wanting to play games in 1986 waiting 10 years for the PS1 to come out wouldn't have been a good choice.
