If even a quarter of you who whine about how terrible Democrats are actually had the courage to run for office I would take some of these criticisms more seriously but you won’t Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Less talking, more action.

The number of people who respond to this with β€œfilibusters do nothing” or β€œthey have to vote no!” makes me think that way too many people do not understand current Senate rules.

SAVE Act would make traditional voter registration drives impossible. That's the real goal of it. States can already do voter ID at the polls, many do. This requires 'proof' be presented by the voter directly to the registrar (e.g. county clerk). Which means orgs can't collect and turn in the forms.

I’m sure that won’t just end in faster automation. Seems like a silly hill to die on when flirting with anti-union fascists.

South Sudan to accept man deported from US in bid to defuse visa row - BBC News The government initially denied entry to the man, saying he was Congolese, not South Sudanese.

The US deports a foreign national to South Sudan, a country that he does not come from.

When South Sudan refuses, US cancels ALL VISAS from South Sudan.

South Sudan relents, accepts non-citizen in an attempt to calm the US, but visas are still in limbo.

GOT IT.

Wow. This is the full document submitted by Rubio against Mr. Khalil invoking INA 237(a)(4)(C).

The standard in immigration court is extremely deferential; a judge must accept this so long as it is β€œfacially reasonable and bona fide.” But this is so threadbare that it might not even satisfy that.

Florida teacher loses job for calling student by preferred name It’s the first known dismissal stemming from the conservative campaign to limit schools' recognition of transgender identity.

It finally happened. The first documented case of a public school teacher being fired for referring to a student by their chosen name, instead of their dead name, as required by a law signed by Ron DeSantis in 2023: www.washingtonpost.com/education/20...

Pretty much the same amount Republicans promise to β€œsave” in this budget is what the IRS could have collected from tax cheats and wealthy/sophisticated filers WITHOUT RAISING A SINGLE TAX.

But instead somebody somewhere will lose out on healthcare. Stupid and cruel.

The effort hinges on a surprising new tactic: repurposing Social Security's "death master file," which for years has been used to track dead people who should no longer receive benefits, to include the names of living people who the government believes should be treated as if they are dead. As a result of being added to the death database, they would be blacklisted from a coveted form of identity that allows them to make and spend money.
