Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

If we've learned anything from the part of our history where we created the extremely powerful, world-changing, uncontrollable new technology of a social internet, it should be that whatever is about to happen with AI will, if nothing else, be extremely dumb.

Quite fitting, seeing as that powder had lead and those wigs had mice and lice.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Sometimes I remember Reagan removing Jimmy Carter’s solar panels and I think we’ve been enduring this shit for way too many years.

"There's nothing special about any of us. We are just people who said 'Hey, I think somebody needs something, I wonder if I can get it to them.' And then we ask 'What do you need? Can I give it to you?' and then we give it to them. I think a lot of people think they need permission to do that, or you need to be a trained organizer, and honestly it is the easiest thing in the world to just say 'Hey, do you need anything?'"

Writers Who Use AI Are Not Real Writers Dorothy Parker famously (but probably not really) said, β€œI hate to write, but I love having written,” which is a sentiment I don’t largely understand or agree with in the broader …

Read that article about the """writer""" generating 200 books a year with AI and needless to say, I had THOUGHTS

All the worst people in America are having a terrible time because of Bad Bunny’s Superbowl set, just like they had a terrible time last year because of Kendrick Lamar’s Superbowl set and I am HERE FOR IT. May they sob into their beige food all day.

If there comes a day when police put their bodies between the feds with guns and their targets, I will praise the police for doing so. I don’t expect to see that day. It might even be a dangerous escalation. But until that day comes … I assume they are helping the feds.
