I am becoming increasingly anxious about:

1) The Governmentโ€™s lack of meaningful response to this, and indeed the pandering to it.

2) The way itโ€™s being covered by broadcasters.

The threat to our society is not from asylum seekers in small boats. Itโ€™s from politicians and media cynically whipping up fear and prejudice, labelling them all as criminals, inciting hatred against people for where and what theyโ€™ve fled from.
It must stop. For all our sakes. Itโ€™s deeply sinister.

We left the Dublin Agreement through Brexit. We could legally return illegal migrants to the first safe country before we left.

Do you have any sympathy for the Trump supporters who claim his actions are "not what I voted for"?
My niece, who lives in Florida, does not watch the news, does not go to rallies, and has no interest in what goes on beyond her community. She votes Republican because it is what her parents vote. She will occasionally indulge in the cosplay, posing for photos holding guns & waving the flag, but she has absolutely no idea what Trump was running on. Nor did she care to inform herself.

She, and many Americans, are complacent, and until the GOPโ€™s policies affect them directly, will continue to live in their little bubbles. She doesnโ€™t really know what she voted for.

She is a teacher. Let that sink in. A TEACHER.

Any how, to answer your question, I have no sympathy for those who knowingly voted for the Fuhrer in Chief, or those who were too complacent. I do feel great pity for the children, grandchildren, and future generations who will have to carry the shame and the burden that will be the legacy of the Trump Administration.

I think people are appallingly ignorant about immigration because they are appallingly racist. And theyโ€™ve been given the go-ahead by cynical politicians and media to freely express their prejudice, rather than demand better of themselves.

A fair price to the public for water nationalisation | Letter Letter: The government is wrong on the cost of bringing water back into public ownership, write Prof Becky Malby, Dr Kate Bayliss, Prof Frances Cleaver and Prof Ewan McGaughey

Letter on the true price and benefits of public water in @theguardian.com.

Itโ€™s ยฃ0 for a failed water company, not ยฃ100bn as the Treasury, Steve Reed, and water company lobbyists falsely claim.

The cost of privatisation will be ยฃ22bn extra in 5 years.

Right to buy in England โ€˜fuelled housing crisis and cost taxpayers ยฃ200bnโ€™ Common Wealth report calls discounted sales of council homes one of the โ€˜largest giveaways in UK historyโ€™

Margaret Thatcherโ€™s sale of 1.9m council homes cost public purse ยฃ200bn. Tories bought votes.

Policy fuelled shortages in social housing, turbocharged inequality.

One in six private tenants in England now rents a former local authority home.

Councils lack resources to build new homes.

DuckDuckGo has introduced a new feature allowing users to filter out AI-generated images from search results, addressing growing concerns over synthetic content overwhelming authentic visuals online.
The filter can be activated through a dropdown in the Images tab, search settings, or by using a dedicated AI-free domain: noai.duckduckgo.com. The system relies on curated blocklists, including uBlockOriginโ€™s Huge AI Blocklist, to detect and suppress AI-generated imagery.
While not perfect, it significantly reduces synthetic content visibility. This move sets DuckDuckGo apart from competitors like Google and Bing by giving users direct control over their exposure to AI-generated material.
