K, here and there

ICE surge in western Wisconsin echoes trauma, intimidation of Twin Cities Volunteers have raised money to pay rent, coordinated rides to school for children and donated groceries and household supplies.

Community defense is different here. Scary. Lonely. There's (some) safety in numbers, and they're hard to come by in our red exurban and rural communities.

We're standing up anyway.

So, today's front page print headline seemed quite fitting:

I am so fucking tired of spending time and resources and brainpower and emotional bandwidth to support organizations that cower behind platitudes and invisible protocols instead of joining their communities where they are. In summary, fuuuuuuuck this.

ICE took some three blocks from my house this morning.

It’s amazing how I can still sing this word for word.

I’d just like to remind all of us who are scrambling to get rents paid that this is manufactured scarcity.

We absolutely have the money and the tools to prevent this crisis: the wealth and power brokers are just refusing.
