The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News. A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it's to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine

Anyway, these random 1am (almost) thoughts brought to you by the fact I'm a massive audiophile but also ADORE Star Wars: The Old Republic for giving us some flexibility and complexity in a galaxy far, far away. You can absolutely make a tortured dumbass making a mess of things if you want, 10/10.

I just really love me some fucked up blorbos who think they're Doing The Right Thing but are, in fact, making everything demonstrably worse and usually sabotaging themselves in the process.

"I'm helping, this is a good thing I'm doing" they tell themselves, as they behave terribly.

Those kinds of characters are WAY more interesting to me than the just...batshit crazy ones who wake up one morning and decide "I'm gonna kill everyone with this crazy plague I invented for no reason"

Another example of what I'm talking about is from Avatar, which is *officially* a "love" story from the point of view of a dragon who kidnaps and imprisons a princess, but honestly it applies equally well to the same kind of warped Sith mindset.

(like we get plenty of "this person falls to the Dark Side because of X" but not nearly enough time showing how the ones who *THINK* they're doing the right thing when they fall basically go insane from the contradictions and internal torment their actual actions involve)

(I am very much in the camp that although the Sith are usually the bad guys, there's way more freedom with the Sith Code than what we're shown & the whole "they're basically really temperamental cats" mindset dark-siders & Sith tend to exhibit and there's not nearly enough media exploring it all)

Catching up on some of the artists I like again, and in addition to being a great song, "Ghosts" feels surprisingly Sith-coded (complimentary) when you start paying attention to the lyrics.

It's not particularly well organized from a glance though, so it may require an annoying amount of digging.
