#26 Armistice - The conclusion to the Amberlough books is pretty good. I think our living main characters perhaps skate a few more consequences than they should. Really sharply drawn portraits of people in different positions in fascism's aftermath, having done what they thought they had to do.

I can typically take a pretty boundaried hourish during the workday to read on break. I also like to get in an hour or two if nothing else is happening in the evenings before bed. Sometimes professional circumstances dictate a hurry-up-and-wait, so I make sure to have book for those moments too.

But I do appreciate your appreciation there are just so many good things to read

#25 Somewhere Toward Freedom - I was interested in more of a technical military history of Sherman's March to the Sea but this book focuses on the effects on and contributions of newly freed people to the endeavor was a fresh lens. Also learned about the Port Royal experiment for the first time.

#24 Ordinary Men - disturbingly relevant book to our current times. Makes the point that Reserve Police Battalion was not a typical or highly "Nazified" unit but still managed to participate in a tremendous number of shooting executions during the Holocaust. A grim warning.

#23 Tongues of Serpents - another Temeraire book down. This one in Australia. Not my favorite main plot/quest, feels a bit like a prior novel, but the geopolitics of the world and how the dragons/other animals play into them remain high points.
