It was great to see this Sparrowhawk in my garden this afternoon; I just had enough time to grab my camera and take a couple of shots through the window before it flew.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs was on top form today, with thousands of sea birds present and often showing at very close quarters. Looking inland was productive as well; Short-eared Owl, singing Corn Buntings, and many Tree Sparrows were notable.

Male (bottom) and female Red-footed Falcons at SWT Carlton Marshes this morning. Two of the 5 (or more?) present and showing superbly, either perched or hunting over Peto's Marsh with the Hobbys. It was great to see these two species flying together.

One of the many vocal and active Sedge Warblers at Tollesbury Wick today. There were also Cetti's and Reed Warblers, Chiffchaff, and both Greater and Lesser Whitethroat in good voice. A Red Kite, 6 Cattle Egrets, and at least 12 Whimbrel were also good to see.

I have to admit that I had no expectation of California Quail on my Old Hall Marshes walk this afternoon - so this very vocal and handsome male was rather surprising! It might not count for much, but it was very entertaining 😄!

My first Willow Warblers of the year showed and sang very well at Abberton this afternoon. With a complementary cast of Whitethroat, Yellow Wagtail, Common Tern, Little Gull, Cattle Egret, Black-necked Grebe, Goosander and Nightingale (heard only), it was good to be out!

Dull and windy at Abberton Reservoir today, but the birding was superb. Apart from the Red-crested Pochard, Smew, Lesser Scaup, and Common Scoter shown here, 2 Slavonian and 17 Black-necked Grebes, 30+ Goosander and several Great Egrets provided the main highlights.

Finding the Kessingland Shore Lark took a while this afternoon, but once found, it performed to perfection at quite close range. Judging by the puffed up plumage, it wasn't just me feeling the cold in the wind!
