It's almost the end of #DLDday and so here's my thread about Developmental Language Disorder.
If you don't know about DLD then this is for you.
If you know about DLD please share so more people learn about this common but widely unknown condition.

You can't see DLD (Developmental Language Disorder ) so what does it look like in the classroom?
DLD can look like ADHD but you'll also notice that children with DLD have difficulty using words and sentences and understanding, even when they are focussed.

Because language is so essential to learning, teachers have a unique role in identifying and supporting students with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).
Around 2 children in every class of 30 have DLD.

In one study half of all children with Developmental Language Disorder also had dyslexia. I've seen similar percentages the other way round.
So when a child has issues with reading, think about their down language and vice versa.
