With many GPs returning next year I’ll probably skip big Dual Commander events like this one and instead focus on Limited and 60-card formats which are much more fun and rewarding for me.

Overall it was a super fun weekend mostly because of my friends but also because the first two days were really enjoyable.

On Sunday there was a Dual Commander rebound but I just didn’t want to play the format anymore. I bought some cards with the vouchers I won from the Modern and Team Trio events and spent the day supporting my friends.

All of that combined made for a really unpleasant experience where I played very few interesting Magic games in a 10 round event. I think I played something like 7 real games of Magic out of 25. In the future I’ll probably avoid this format and focus on others instead.

Many of my opponents also had no clue what was going on in the games and played at a really slow pace which forced me to play faster and make mistakes to avoid drawing (they didn’t seem to care about drawing).

This tournament wasn’t very fun for me. There were a lot of games where either my opponent or I had the nuts and the other person just didn’t get to play Magic at all.

On Saturday I played the Dual Commander main event. I chose to play Aragorn because it’s the only deck I own, it’s very strong and it is fun. I finished 5-5 missing Day 2 because I played poorly and didn’t have enough preparation for the format.

Playing Modern was really fun and I hope I keep having this much fun until Antwerp. Also playing Jeskai Blink after playing Prowess for a whole season made me feel like Rock Lee dropping his weights against Gaara.

We chose to split the top 8 since it was happening at the same time as Day 2 of the main event and we didn’t want to miss it. I’m super happy with this result. It’s the biggest tournament I’ve ever top 8’d and I won a really nice playmat.

I didn’t have much prep with my deck but I tried to lock in and play my best Magic. In the first 6 rounds I played really well and managed to go 6-0. This meant I could double ID into the top 8.

On Friday I played Jeskai Blink because it’s the deck I’m preparing for Antwerp. The deck is very strong and a lot of fun. It was a 150+ player event with a Mox for the winner, over 8 rounds and you needed at least a 6-1-1 record to make top 8.

We made top 4 as a team and lost in the finals but it was a lot of fun. Fun fact we had an Extirpate in our Legacy sideboard, but we didn’t have a black source to cast it.

In Team Trio I played the Dual Commander seat with Slimefoot and Squee. My teammates played UR Delver in Legacy and Amulet Titan in Modern.
I wasn’t very good with my deck since it was my first time playing it, but I still managed to win a decent number of games.

I played the Relic Fest last week from Wednesday to Sunday. I played the Team Trio Trial on Wednesday, Modern on Friday, and Dual Commander on Saturday.

It is difficult to measure to what extent it matter but I pretty sure it does and I should try to get more sleep before an event.

I feel like my level of play is not super consistent and I should strive to always play my A game. And finally I should also sleep more before an RCQ (I played an RCQ with 2 hours sleep and one with 3).

I am a bit sad that I did not manage to convert but I am sure that if I keep working hard I will at some point. I think I should also work on being more locked in against every opponents.

Overall I am very happy with my standard season. I made 4 top 8 in 4 events and made 2 finals. It is a level of consistency that I never reached before and I feel like the hard work is paying.

The deck is very dynamic and offer you a lot of choices which I like a lot. That being said the deck is way above the other decks in the format and absolutely deserve a ban.

Played my laste RCQ of the Standard season today. Lost in the final just like last week. I took Vivi Cauldron for on last wild ride before the ban. I had a ton of fun playing the deck this season, probably the most fun I had playing a Magic deck.

Played an RCQ today. I played Izzet Chauldron and lost in final. Kept a bad hand in g3 of the final and lost. Otherwise I was very happy with my tournament, played tight in a lot of games. I played a random list that I put together the day before, nothing fancy.

Played an RCQ yesterday and made top 8 but lost in quarter. I played super bad in the rounds but my deck carried me to victory. I played the same list as for the Store Champs.
