Trump sets refugee admissions cap for coming year at record low The president sets the limit at 7,500 for the coming year, a dramatic cut from 125,000.

Appalling but unsurprising . The white supremacy not even mildly disguised.- Trump caps refugee admissions at record low - with most to be white South Africans

It will be interesting to see what stance, if any, the UK govt takes to the 80+ British citizens who have voluntarily served in the IDF over the past two years.

Nice piece and very plausible view although I take a slightly different view on the analytic/continental divide.

I don't think it is Nietzsche. It would probably be in Human, All Too Human or Daybreak if it was, and I can't find it in a quick search of those.

My day was spent with Ian McEwan's new novel What We Can Know. McEwan has written novels that I adore (The Child in Time) and novels I intensely dislike (Atonement). About halfway through the new book I thought it might be his best work, by the end not sure but it is very good. More thought needed.

Damn. This is amazing. Β£325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

The article states β€œThe Conservatives say they would task officials with removing 750,000 illegal immigrants.” This is inaccurate: the plan would include migrants *legally* in the country, because it is legal for refugees to enter to claim asylum without first getting a visa.

Our research makes it clear: by capitulating to the right, Labour is driving voters to Reform UK | Tarik Abou-Chadi and Stuart Turnbull-Dugarte Mimicking Farage on immigration is senseless. Labour voters feel betrayed; anti-immigration voters see through the ruse, say academics Tarik Abou-Chadi and Stuart Turnbull-Dugarte

Only yesterday, the Guardian had this interesting piece on research into 80+ elections across decades & 12 countries that showed: anti-immigrant rhetoric never serves traditional parties. It only serves the far-right. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
