Dank Pluslife ist es uns nun schon zum dritten Mal gelungen, asymptomatische Infektionen bei Freunden oder Famlienmitgliedern (😥) aufzudecken und so die Infektionskette zu durchbrechen 💪

Es funktioniert!

In late 2023, Amsterdam introduced a 30 km/h limit. A large number of arterials were lowered from 50 km/h, 4,500 signs installed, 140 lights reconfigured, and 200 km of markings adjusted. Aiming to improve safety, liveability and accessibility, 80% of the road network is now at this critical speed.🧵

Hiroshima anniversary: mayor says Ukraine and Middle East crises show world ignoring nuclear ‘tragedies’ On 80th anniversary of atomic bombing, Kazumi Matsui urges younger people to recognise ‘inhumane’ consequences of nuclear weapons as a deterrent The mayor of Hiroshima has led calls for the world’s most powerful countries to abandon nuclear deterrence, at a ceremony to mark 80 years since the city was destroyed by an American atomic bomb. As residents, survivors and representatives from 120 countries gathered at the city’s peace memorial park on Wednesday morning, Kazumi Matsui warned that the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East had contributed to a growing acceptance of nuclear weapons. When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Happy Non-binary People’s Daaaaaay!
Stuff:
- there are older people who are non-binary.
- there are Indigenous people who are non-binary (but we’re not your ‘proof of concept’).
- the binary is a key element of the colonial project of gender.
-we’re an integral part of our community.

I want to talk about my friend.

I met him at a summer camp for nerds when I was 12, pre-transition. We hit it off immediately, became SUPER close, and our parents would drive us back and forth for sleepovers for the next five years.

He was the first trans person I met. He transitioned in the 90s.

London’s low-traffic zones ‘cut deaths and injuries by more than a third’ Exclusive: Study also finds no change in number of casualties on roads just outside low-traffic neighbourhoods

Turns out that LTNs in London ‘cut deaths and injuries by more than a third’. And without any corresponding increase on the boundaries.
That's good for the victims, good for the NHS and emergency services, and good for the taxpayer too.
LTNs are a very good thing

From a certain perspective a successful political action is an incident. And incidents have contributing factors, not one root cause. It’s usually a more or less perfect storm. Is it busywork? Yes! But so is doing the dishes and chopping onions. All necessary for a decent meal

With all due respect to the TVA, I had never heard of KY lake before, so I'm inclined not to count it.

Understandably defined for countries, but for states I too feel that the Great Lakes should count. They permit transit to other states and indeed other countries.

EU’s shift to a US savings model risks dismantling its social contract Political choices should be debated democratically, not hidden in technocratic agendas of ‘financing gaps’

“All this means a quiet erosion of the social contract. In its place will come the American model: more housing, hospitals, care homes, even the pipes in the ground, becoming assets on a private equity balance sheet, ruthlessly milked for yield.”
