Sweet, thanks! Yeah we tried our best to make that one as authentically arcadey as possible. It's always a little surprising just how much work needs to go into making a game of that kind of density, even at a relatively short length.

I did this (2) in Rakshasa in UFO 50 - I think it works well!

Hi I'm on bluesky now! Last year was a hell of a year as my 2-year-old was diagnosed with cancer (!?!?!?) and spent much of it in the hospital. Thankfully it's in remission now. What a ride. Hoping to slowly get back into gamedev stuff this year!

Every time I look at GnG I'm kinda taken aback by how excellently designed it is, but it seems so effortless!

I don't have a lot of interest in sports but whenever there's a real big championship going on just about any sport can be thrilling to watch as long as you pick someone to root for. With cards I would imagine maybe money could make stakes exciting, even as a spectator?

For me it's all about games with stakes. Watching someone attempt a speedrun pb, or a 1cc of a difficult arcade game, is thrilling because there's always the risk of a small mistake setting them way back to the beginning. Some kind of empathy with the player emerges.

I wasn't quite able to finish Moon RPG (for now!). I had ~5 animals left to rescue and a couple of rocket parts to get but it was hard to make more progress. As a player I don't like looking up walkthroughs or getting hints, but I also don't mind leaving a game unbeaten.

Abolish Ice

Finally got myself Tetris Effect. I don't know why I slept on it this long when Rez is one of my favorite games, but it's fantastic of course. Music is a little more hit and miss than the all timer soundtrack of Rez, but still still great fun to play regardless.

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.
