You’re As Good As Anybody Else
You’ve Got A Place Here, Too”

Much gratitude to all who impart the type of revelatory and revolutionary love —during Black History month *and* year-round —that nurtures, nourishes and flows from generation to generation.
Shabbat Shalom

BLK History Month
Nikki Giovanni
“If Black History Month is not
viable then wind does not
carry the seeds and drop them
on fertile ground
rain does not
dampen the land
and encourage the seeds
to root
sun does not
warm the earth
and kiss the seedlings
and tell them plain:

Nikki Giovanni’s poem, “BLK History Month,” is, in my view, a powerful call to and of love and describes the importance of Black History Month—for the nourishment of seedlings who are created in the image of the Divine Source of all life.
(4/6)
In the book, “The Torah: A Women’s Commentary,” it is said that the verb “love” in v’avahtah (and you shall love) conveys “not just an emotion but implications for one’s actions” and that the v’avatah describes how people are to internalize the teachings and impart them to future generations.

In honour of Black History Month, I will be reading Nikki Giovanni’s poem entitled. “BLK History Month,” which points towards a similarity between Black History Month and the way nature provides nourishment for the growth of seedings.

Last night, in Beit Kohenet’s Kabbalat Shabbat Services, I read Nikki Giovanni’s poem, “BLK History Month”.
I prefaced my reading with these words:

Today, is Pippin’s 6th birthday.
Animated, attention grabbing, comedic, clever, loving, camera-eager & close-up seeking, even in the midst of extremely difficult times, Pippin is able to make me laugh when laughter feels unavailable.
Happy Birthday adorable, sweet, energetic, playful Pippin.❤️

Nevertheless, I am sharing as a point of information, as a message of foreshadowing and as a voice in solidarity with those who have been deemed as governmental “waste”.
Thank you Rabbi Mike Rothbaum for sharing.
I’m not as naive as to think that for some who held the view that the following Observances are “wasteful spending” that this will not be a source of glee. (2/3)

I’ve come in search of blue skies, smiles and laughs, kindness, and interesting reads.
Pippin, my pup, is here for the same. Actually, she is also seeking much praise for cuteness.
