Maybe the pluggable algorithms are all you need. Each "subreddit" is a distinct ranking algorithm that you add to your account (or whatever the terminology is). It isn't personalized; everyone gets the same ranking. moderators probably use an out-of-band app which controls the algo.

I think I/the world would get more benefit from decentralized reddit/forums than decentralized twitter. I wonder if you could do a reddit-style thing over the at protocol. maybe each subreddit is a unique account, and you submit posts by mentioning that account? etc

My plan/dream is to eventually try hiring a handful of college students part time and have my own little R&D lab. Once I'm done with the whole having-a-mortgage thing...

I.e. yakread.com already works as an email client and provides a feed of your newsletter posts + other stuff. it might be cool if Yakread had a bluesky algo so you could use bluesky as a client for your Yakread subs. but not sure if that would be workable yet.

Idly thinking about if you could use bluesky as a newsletter + RSS client somehow? though I'm guessing the pluggable algo stuff only lets you provide a feed of posts that are already exposed through the AT protocol...
