28.03.2025 15:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I prefer hardcover because I think they look better on the shelf.
But to read? Iโm an ebook girlie. So when I buy physical books it is because I loved it and want it as a reflection of that on my shelf.
I often buy used too and have started wondering about buying paperbacks and rebindingโฆ

22.01.2025 12:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This morning though, I have two red bellied woodpeckers. I suspected I had two, but side by side you can definitely see the differences. And a challenger squirrel. A Not Loretta. I love that I know these neighbors and can recognize them.
I have bought more bird feeders and new seeds.
Iโve since attracted a squirrel we call Loretta. And the number of species in the yard climbs. My winter migrants are here and it brings me so much joy to see the juncos and chickadees along with my year round downy woodpeckers and clownish house sparrows that nested in my tree last spring.
20.11.2024 14:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Growing up my parents always fed the backyard birds. My mom had a bird book and as a kid that loved books, I scoured the thing. So it was unsurprising when I looked out my windows and started naming the various species to my husband last winter. Or when I bought a bird feeder.. and anotherโฆ

Theyโre such cool animals. We have a semi-permanent resident, Stubby, and she teaches all the babies that come to Columbus how to manatee. We stan a round queen.

A Wizardโs Guide to Defensive Baking / T. Kingfisher
Itโs YA and cozy fantasy/mystery.
I would also feel okay with giving Legends and Lattes / Travis Baldree or A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic / J Penner to a teen. Nothing spicy, not violent, I donโt remember a ton of profanity.
I feel mislead by all dystopian literature. It's supposed to be a powerful authoritarian government that lords over a cowering population, and and we just need need a few brave acts of heroism to give the people the courage to rise up.
Instead it's just half the country being dumb and mean.
