The plastic inside us: how microplastics may be reshaping our bodies and minds The particles are in our blood, brains and guts – and scientists are only beginning to learn what they do

"Microplastics have been detected in the brains of dementia patients, and in arterial plaques from people with heart disease"

And the response of the plastics industry is......

....to massively ramp up plastic production

👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽Yes worth listening to, and contemplating deeply. However the message of the talk is: society will inevitably collapse, we have no choice, but I’m going to be a nice person when it does, so I’ll be ok… while I:
a) starve
b) be one of 70% of the global population under tyranny 1/

Will burying biomass underground curb climate change? Though carbon removal startups may limit global warming, significant questions remain.

We're basically out of ideas if our solution to climate change is to dig a hole in the ground and poop in it.

When reality comes knocking, it can be a harsh wake up call.

Many of us believed we would be fine.

Didn’t really understand just how few supports exist for disabled people or how hard they work to survive.

Secretly believed they could “just try harder”

Stephen Miller is murdering Venezuelans and Colombians in cold blood bc he believes it helps his propaganda campaign to paint Latinos as dangerous.

Strangely, there is another layer of hell to this. Bc the parts of the brainstem affected are related to your emotional/stress/psy/hormonal regulation, your thoughts/emotions/psy become 'chemically' extremely fucked up.

We often assume the deal between the Russian state and its contract soldiers is not ideological. But what could be more ideological than believing the state owes you nothing, you owe the state nothing, and everything - including your life - can be reduced to a business transaction?

How on earth is almost 2026 and this shit is about hospitalised patients from 2020/2021...

Do we have to wait 5 more years for looking at #pwME/LC with PEM (both pre & post covid)? And people with other sequalae?

Finding answers in science takes time, blablabla... this is just about 'doing it'!

Wheelchairs are shit.

No, wait, let me rephrase that: Wheelchairs are absolutely fantastic and afford disabled people a world of independence and mobility they would otherwise be stripped of. But – you knew that already.

There's good reason why the oil and gas industry lobbies so hard for carbon capture - because it's the one 'climate solution' that wouldn't necessarily require shutting down the oil and gas industry

But it doesn't work. They need to be shut down

A coloured pencil drawing; there are three portraits of the same man. The centre portrait is the man smiling with a sparkle in his eye, drawn in lively colours. On his chest and shoulders are a variety of smaller animal portraits: two border collies, a yellow lab, and two rams. The left and right hand portraits are the same man, but in dark, desaturated colours. The left portrait stares into the distance, with an expression that's a mixture of dissociation and fear. The right portrait has downcast eyes and a drooping expression that conveys a weary bitterness and sadness.

Horrible reporting from the ABC describing China as “once a climate villain”. Actually no, on a per capita basis and since industrialisation they are middle of the pack. Whereas Australia 👇

I did Cert 3 arts at the NW TAFE pre covid, had freelance gigs as a result, watched my classmates get jobs or start small businesses - one of which directly contributed to the Spirit of Tasmania children’s entertainment program, which is a major public face of state tourism. The arts create jobs.
