The gens are primarily differentiated by how the tops operate themselves, but X specifically has also changed the nature of the stadium which males gameplay more dynamic.

Every once in a while there is a new gen that lasts for a period of time with major updates almost yearly. The previous gen, Burst, went on for 7 years before being immediately followed up by X. And X has 3 main lines at the moment. BX, UX, and CX (Basic, Unique, and Customize respectively).

Officially no, though people do keep track of their wins at events. The players chosen for worlds for example won regional and national tournaments to qualify. Unofficially, the WBO (world beyblade organization), as a fan run group using a score for ranked to keep track, but is in season 0.

X is the only one that doesnโt do this, so I assume everything is based on their launch trajectory and accurately predicting the setups for their special moves.

You can start any gen without prior knowledge of the others though. Otherwise it leans on how much you want between the action angle and sports angle.
