Here i have a vertex rotating on the view axis, pivoting around the 3d cursor.

I've made a circle to show the possible path of the vertex when it rotates.

When i press Ctrl to snap (to the face) wouldnt we rather it snap to the point that circle intersects with the plane? ๐Ÿค”

Did you know in #b3d you can get different framerate playbacks depending on which window you press play in?

Also, if you have lots of nodes even if muted and unplugged that can make a difference?

That's my fave method too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I can imagine beginners getting pretty confused that it's not just a simple option among the other settings is all.

Then potentially finding it in the multires baking settings, then realising that it requires several more steps with shrinkwrap etc.

I wonder why height is not a bake option after #b3d v2.79

Or maybe a better question is why not add it as an option for cycles/eevee?

I guess lack of demand? Does anyone miss this straightforward bake option? Rather than hacking it together with multires and shrinkwraps?

Does anyone know how to rotate coord's in blender so that they never turn into streaks (as they do with the mapping node?)

Here i'm simulating that of course we could just rotate the mesh in edit mode - but can that be done with vector nodes instead? ๐Ÿค”

incidentally i was pretty impressed with how easy it was to poke around and test the export with sketchfab - pretty convenient since it's free and in the browser too. :)

ah yeah, very possibly. Sometimes whether the output needs to be linear or srgb can again affect the look there. But on the other hand, cycles does just tend to look very good thanks to its path tracing. :D A hard thing for some real-time engines to replicate by default I guess. :)

if even in cases where the normal map isn't working that hard, it could be that either the colorspace is wrong - i.e. needs to be non-color/linear or sRGB - or vice versa, or perhaps the Y i.e. green channel needs to be flipped.

Those are the usual suspects for weird normals anyway. :D

I'm currently just assuming that because of engines doing things slightly differently to blender that artifacts still happen in these extreme cases.

your stuff looks super cool and very crisp! I can see why you'd be interested in knowing how to not smudge that crispness into oblivion due to some shaky normal maps.

Though in most circumstances it seems to look fine, it's just in this somewhat over the top example. :)
