I haven’t seen a good special edition of a controller since the PS4 era, even the PS5 ones have been bad outside of the impossible to get PS1 edition. And honestly never saw a great looking version of the Switch Pro controller ever :/

Love that people are finally rediscovering this game. Back when it released, most people had no concept of rogue style mechanics, especially in a JRPG, so it got panned super hard. I wouldn’t say it’s for everyone but it’s now my 2nd favourite BOF next to 3.

I played a ton of the PSP GitS game back then. It was super janky with enemies that kind of just stand there and shoot at you with very little AI routines, and it controlled pretty bad. You had to lead a Tachikoma around a that got stuck on level geometry a lot, tho you could jump in and control it.

The ROM for the unreleased Famicom RPG Splatter World has been released (in a thread on 4chan, of all places). I've tried it myself, and it does seem to be genuine. If it's a fake, it's a damn good one.

I also want to specifically call out the work of @lottemakesstuff.pink on our layering tech here. It's hard (for me, an ignoramus) to describe how complex the layering is in this game but sprites over 3D backgrounds with effects is no simple thing.
