Apparently facts are not as relevant as your desire to place blame for anything you want solely on one age cohort. Done.

And looking at that 1988 election, 54% of voters
ages 30-44 (Boomers) voted for HW Bush. But younger
Ages 18-29 voted 53% for Bush. So all generations voting made the wrong choice.

Gen Z favored Harris over Trump in the 2024 presidential election by just four points. You could choose to blame all the Gen Z who voted for Trump. But basically no one age cohort is completely solely responsible for the outcomes good or bad.

I looked at and presented facts. Your choice to believe them or not. I didn’t do all elections—what percent of all voters were boomers and how that percent voted. You can. Boomers, as other “generations”, have gotten more conservative as they age.

Only 1 year of the age cohort was even old enough to vote in 1968 when the voting age was still 21; only about 27% of boomers were old enough to vote in 1972 when voting age was 18. In 1972, voters 25 and under made up about 15% of the electorate. So hardly responsible for Nixon.

Boomers encompass people born between 1946 and 1964…a huge range. And let’s blame that age cohort as all voting for the republicans in every election. The highest percent of all voters voting Democrat in the the first election in which all boomers were old enough to vote, 1984, were Boomers.

Yep-they had the first president they remembered -JFK-assassinated, then Malcolm X, Martin Luther King jr., Bobby Kennedy, Fred Hampton. Almost 60,000 young men killed in a hated pointless war w/ 2.5 million who were drafted to serve. Over 8% unemployment in 60s/70s. Yep-a silver platter.

Not just a better life; this family was seeking asylum-fearing persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. They had passed the first step by showing a significant possibility of proving their claim.

Sadly Staler died in 2021 but was loved and cared for in his last years by the Bat Sanctuary.

They did this their whole lives: they have never cared about anyone other than their own ability to amass wealth and power. Age is not the issue: lack of human compassion for anyone, racism, sexism, (and other issues-discrimination against disability etc) and greed are the issues.

Trump has done evil his whole life: from racism-housing and employment discrimination in the 1970s when he was in his thirties. Definitely acts as an entitled asshole, an entitled rich asshole, an entitled rich white asshole. He shakes down everyone he can-quid pro quo. But age is not the issue.

3/ Example Steven Miller and JD Vance are in their 40s and are evil, heartless, greedy fascists who do not care about anything beyond themselves. They could have years ahead of them, which we can only hope will be spent at a place like CECOT. It’s not age.

The evil being perpetrated is not because that these evil ones are old; it is because they are cruel authoritarian/fascist oligarchs.

1/ I am beyond very angry at what is happening and am taking, and have taken, multiple actions opposing the fascists and the destruction they have wrought. Those fascists have been fascists at all ages. It’s the apparent inability to recognize that there have been heros and leaders at all ages.

Yes, self interested, greedy, assholes are self interested greedy assholes at all ages.

Another irritatingly agist comment. “Old men” are also working against the destruction of our country and the world, both well known people like Robert Reich or recently deceased Jesse Jackson, and the thousands of average old men fighting fascism in places like Minneapolis.

I doubt anyone in the White House understands the term in a historical context (because learning from history has no interest), but that is exactly what Trump wants: Iran gives up completely, receives no concessions whatsoever, and has no assurance of allowing the ruler or supporters to live.

The US never ratified the treaty, the Rome Statute, which President Clinton had signed. George W. Bush then “unsigned” it. The Rome Statute had created the international criminal court. So US doesn’t recognize its jurisdiction.

And your grandmas? What were their lives like, whether or not they received wages for their work? Why were women excluded in your question, Sarah?

Nice generalization. However boomers were the driving force behind movements against the Vietnam war, for civil rights, women’s rights , and environmental protections, forcing positive changes when they were not in power.

In a big Senate race reversal, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig voices regrets over vote on immigration law U.S. Rep. Angie Craig’s vote to allow for detention of noncitizens without bail if they’re charged with certain crimes has been a central issue in the DFL race for an open U.S. Senate seat.

I would appreciate hearing a longer clip. The way this is excerpted makes it unclear what she said thereafter. I note that www.startribune.com/ice-agent-su...

Just talking and/or clarifying about words, not about the concepts which we agree upon!

I respect your service. Conscription/the draft ended in 1973. Any service after that time was voluntary. If you entered the military after that time, you (and everyone else) chose to do so. I am talking only about terminology. Yes, there could be universal service.

You still are mixing up registration and conscription. All males already are required to register. No exemptions, buy outs, or medical disqualification for REGISTRATION. There is no conscription/draft; service is voluntary. I agree that IF there were a draft system, it should be a fair system.

If you are not familiar with Rep. Pat Ryan's own military background, he is a West Point graduate who served two combat tours in Iraq as a combat intelligence officer, earning two Bronze Stars. He probably has a damn good sense of what this current "war" with Iran will be like.

You are mixing up registration and what was a system for selection for actual mandatory service. Every male ages 18-25 still has to register. When there was a "draft", the system of who was then required to serve, there were categories of exemptions. Currently there is an all volunteer military.

Interestingly, in the photo you include, photo of the front of the jacket, it looks like the "cross" touches the circle so that cross looks just like the division into the quadrants.

One "little" request. The division lines making quadrants looks like a cross if not connected to the circle. Could we avoid religious symbols, even one that clearly were unintended?

Thank you, Metro Surge: “The U of M Center for Urban and Regional Affairs estimates the statewide rent debt may have doubled among low-income households in January and February. Rent debt is at least $27 million higher than normal and up to $51.3 million higher, the study concludes.” Startribune.
