History requires deep, extensive research a lot of that research will end up not being directly relevant. You won't know that until you get in it. Research isn't just pulling a doc with all the answers, it's finding connections, it's understanding what's *not* being said, it's knowing context.

I know this feels right (and flattering). But that man doesn’t hate smart people. He hates people who won’t do what he wants. Smart people comply all the time.

β€œThis is a generous construction of the defendant’s argument.” I cannot even begin to explain how incredible and depressing it is to know this sentence is in reference to the current government.

It’s crucial to keep emphasizing that these EOs were lawless. There was never a plausible argument they were constitutional. This administration has nothing but contempt for the constitution and the rule of law.

I've managed to live without Amazon. I used to get Amazon deliveries practically daily. Now I just plan ahead a little and order stuff direct. I realized I put up with a lot of shitty products I don't even really need just because they were shipped to me quickly

Executive Order Roundup

Note from the writer: It is important to understand what Executive Orders (EO) can and can’t do. An EO can’t change existing law, it can’t create new laws. An EO is a way for the President to tell Federal Agencies how they want existing laws to be implemented, what priorities they should have, and what regulations they should implement within their area of expertise.

Attack on organized labor
On 3/27, Trump signed an EO that attempts to take away the collective bargaining rights of thousands of Federal employees, claiming that the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 gives him the authority to do so because of their role in safeguarding national security. He claims that dozens of agencies now fall under this law, many of which have long-running unions.

For example, he claims that employees of the Food and Drug Administration are part of the National Security apparatus and therefore can’t collectively bargain.

Re-writing history and restoring confederate monuments
This EO seeks to do two things:
Take away the independence of the Smithsonian museums to curate and present American history in a way that tells the full story, good and bad, by instructing VP Vance to take control of the Board of Regents. It specifically calls out the National Museum of African American History and Culture for having an exhibit that describes white American culture, and the American Women’s History Museum for having an exhibit that includes the accomplishments of transgender women.
It also seeks to restore the many many (Confederate) Monuments that have been removed across the United States in recent years, at the desires of the people who live in these places.
In total, this EO seeks to whitewash the history of the United States by removing any mention of racism, sexism, queer history, Black history, and any other elements of our history that make cis-, straight, white people uncomfortable. Mass Firing at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) On T…

my project relies primarily on a network of pro bono firms to assist survivors of human trafficking. if these biglaw firms are all making deals with the federal government, there’s potential for conflict of interest and limited β€œcapacity” for taking on cases.

28.03.2025 17:41 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

something i am not seeing in the pro bono/biglaw discourse is the risk this poses to direct service projects that rely on pro bono legal work access for underserved clients desperately needing these services.

what replaces due process under fascism is the assurance of protection for favored groups. even though it’s precarious, a lot of people feel just as protected under that framework as they do under one with due process

this is something i keep coming back to. the ramifications of these actions will be felt in local courts, particularly by indigent clients. i feel like i’ve already been seeing state attorneys testing out small defiances with judges.

what the general public truly fails to appreciate is that this effectively happens every day to our most vulnerable community members, particularly Black people and people experiencing homelessness or a mental health crisis. come to a day of hearings in any county court room. see the process.

Here’s my ask of you today:

I want you to engage with EVERY article/post you see about Signalgate. Like, comment, share. Every one.

The reason why the media kept talking about Hillary’s emails was because every story & post about it got massive engagement.

Sound good?
