This is a good example of how wrestling gets to be different (meaning scummier) than any other industry. Imagine if like, the Ravens brought back Justin Tucker and John Harbaugh went on TV and just said "You crybabies can't cancel Justin Tucker!"

I definitely think for some fans the rationalization is "Yeah I know these people are bad, but so are (NFL, for example)" and just move on.

I did not expect any mainstream media outlet to really cover the (negative) significance of Lesnar's return, but pleasantly surprised by this very well-informed article. Great work by Brent Brookhouse.

New pod from me--going over Brock's return to WWE, what it says about WWE and its fans, and wrestling medias disappointing reaction to it.

The most interesting aspect of it all, as Trevor gets to at the bottom of his piece, is the amount of people who very quickly will run cover for WWE/Brock simply because they have no capacity to understand the actual moral issue bringing back Lesnar poses.

Trevor does a good job here talking about the issue. I've spent the morning thinking about how I'd want to write about Brock's return, but I currently don't have a lot of new things to say beyond pointing out that it was predictable that Brock would return to WWE.

"Was Brock Lesnar offered any WWE employees to have non-consensual sex with in order for him to return to WWE?"

Would be a good question for the presser, if Levesque had any courage to have one.

AEW fundamentally changed a lot of people's mindset regarding wrestling--one of the most underdiscussed aspects over the last five years is just how many people seemingly had their entire worldview of wrestling hinging on WWE having an undisputed monopoly over pro wrestling in the US.

The conspiracy theory would be that someone associated with WWE (or anti AEW grift) told him to go back and double down

It's funny because people that go to the show live are just so psyched to see a cash in and title change in person. I feel there is a big difference between how the typical WWE fan feels about Rollins' cash in, and the fans live who clearly felt it was an incredible moment.

I think the Rollins injury saga was a good test of wrestling media. It's not about always being right, no one bats a thousand, but it is about quickly admitting when you're wrong, or admitting when you simply don't know what is and isn't true.

Also WALTER'S selling of the blood was downright goofy.

The crowd was also really quiet, clearly just waiting for Punk's abbreviated comeback and then what they were really waiting for, Rollins coming out and cashing in.

I thought WALTER vs Punk was strange. Maybe because I watch very little of WWE, but it felt very slow. Punk wasn't selling as much as he was just lying dead on the mat while WALTER stalked around and then hit some awkward powerbombs.

Fletcher vs Dustin Rhodes was kind of everything right about pro wrestling.

My takeway from the clips of WWE Unreal I've seen posted online is modern wrestling is micromanaged and agented to death. A generation of wrestlers are getting brought up who will feel lost if they don't have 18 layers of management telling them what to do at any given moment.

I forgot about that match and I was there lol. I think the angle was that Orton was hitting on Brooke and then Hulk cockblocked him?

There was a time where a legend in wrestling would show up and the cocky heel would beat up the old legend and get a ton of heat out of it.

Now legends show up with the purpose of getting themselves over--which isn't surprising given who is running the company.

In the newsroom today our editorial staff was asking if Ozzy ever played in Worcester--and I told them "I know he hosted an episode of Monday Night Raw at the DCU Center in like, 2011" haha
