Primarily a knitter, but I dabble in other crafts too.

Sock WIPs don't count. Just as sock yarn doesn't count as stash. It's a rule.

Twisted German is my go-to for socks, remembering it is the gap between stitches that gives the stretch. Don't snug up each stitch against the next!

*hugs* Stay warm and dry, cuddle the pooches and knit on. I'm in Gippsland and we'd really like some of that wet, but it doesn't look as if any will make it down here.

I use an old school CD accordian case for my circs. Shorter DPNs can go in there too.

Yep. That's why I pretty much use circular for everything - no weight hanging off the end of straight needles!

Lopi sweaters! I made two back in the day, and I was incredibly happy with them. Big yarn, big needles, yoke down, all in the round, with colourwork. So much fun and one of those easy ones that make you look like a crafting Rockstar.

Do you have second hand shops nearby? An old school soup tureen is your friend here - and it keeps your yarn clean as well. The ladle notch makes it a perfect yarn container. Or for smaller balls, a sugar bowl works, so long as it has that notch in the lid. :)

*cough* mine is nearly twice that...the first 100 or so have stash yarn allocated, then I might have to go shopping ๐Ÿ› for ๐Ÿงถ

What an interesting idea! Different colours and bead placement for different experiences? How cool!

What is the final plan for the piece, if you don't mind sharing?

Don't burn it! Either keep it as proof you can Do.This.Thing or pass it along. Whatever you think of it, someone out there will love it.

My five things would be

1) a knitting project, very likely socks
2) crochet hook for fixes etc
3) a yarn cutting implement
4) ear buds for podcast or audio book (while knitting, obviously)
5) an electronic device for said audio, plus knitting pattern storage, photos of WIPs, FOs and inspiration

#showmeyourknits From one extreme to the other. Baby socks and hat (this makes 3 pair in this yarn), and Flippant cardigan for me.

There are excellent reasons for having multiple WIPs - different yarn weights, different techniques and mental requirements. I'm with you - whatever feels right to have attention in that moment.

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago, but mine was toe up. Can I suggest you put different toes on them? It's relatively easy sock surgery for the completed one, and if you need a gram or two to finish the second foot, the first toe should be enough.

6 A pop of colour

This is some of the pieces of Frankie's Woodland Wreath. Yes it was started in December but no matter how much I tried to kid myself, it was never going to be done in a month.

Mostly greens and browns, the bluebells really do pop, and so do the red toadstools.

5 Works in Progress

Baby socks - if I'm not posting regularly, it's because my daughter had twins this week, and I'm on grandma duties with the older kids. So yes, more baby booties! And other baby stuff.

Also #showmeyourknits stripes and #skykal blue, but also other colours.

Go for it! So many reasons why socks are the perfect portable knitting project. I *always* have a sock WIP in my handbag.

Calantha shawl I made a few years ago in a Caterpillar Green colourway called Olive Branch. I don't have a great picture of the finished shawl but here's an in progress shot.

Day 4 Inspiration

Not mine - Margaret Reid www.ganseys.com/interlude-1-... has knit a Neibling pattern as a garment! Herbert Neibling was a knitting pattern designer in Europe in the early part of last century. Stunningly complex patterns in extremely fine yarns.
