Not a lawyer, but all the sources out there seem to say that the pardon power does not extend to civil suits like this one, only to federal crimes.

Good morning to everyone but especially to Lady Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, whose judgement against Rudy Giuliani for defaming them and turning their lives upside down cannot be pardoned away by the president

The least most politically engaged people I know are texting me before 8am to say, “we won’t forget.”

So I don’t know man.

Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Senate update: Republicans are now trying to sneak a backdoor national abortion ban into their government funding bill. Republicans will stop at nothing to control women's health care decisions.

Not ICE. Border Patrol. They’re wearing Border Patrol uniforms with clear Border Patrol patches on them.

There are many videos of ICE officers doing outrageous stuff but a lot of the absolute worst videos are of Border Patrol, who are basically Bovino and Miller’s most aggressive tool right now.

Being on SNAP benefits for 17 years, I've NEVER been told I wouldn't be paid my benefits. NEVER. What is going on is BEYOND cruel. The ppl w/disabilities, ppl w/chronic illnesses & cancer, seniors already isolated, the 16M hh's w/children. WE REFUSE TO BE A NUMBER. WE ARE PEOPLE. WE DESERVE DIGNITY.

It was. But Trump retroactively reversed humanitarian parole granted during the Biden administration. He then stacked the Board of Immigration Appeals, who then voted to deny bond to everyone here illegally, including everyone he’d just retroactively stripped of status.

He Was a Beloved Dog Trainer and an Asylum Seeker. Why Was He Detained? The humans love him, and so do the canines. What happened when ICE took Seyre Mussa Traore away.

Maybe it’s the dog angle that hit me harder, but this story is crushing. They’re destroying people for no reason.

The only thing I care about in a president for 2028 is holding every one of these people accountable under the law in the harshest manner possible. Anything short of that is a waste of time.

To put this in scale, Elon Musk's salary from Tesla alone could fund the SNAP program for the entire country into 2034.

The documented real-world harms to these plaintiffs obviously outweigh the Government's unexplained (and inex-plicable) interest in immediate implementation of the Passport Policy. That incongruity is where equity comes in.
Because granting the stay application will be "of little ad-vantage" to the Government, Di Giovanni, 296 U.S., at 71, while needlessly and significantly burdening the plaintiffs, equity cannot justify the Court's intervention. But, today, the Court refuses to answer equity's call. In my view, the Court's failure to acknowledge the basic norms of equity jurisdiction is more than merely regrettable. It is an abdication of the Court's duty to ensure that equitable standards apply equally to all litigants-to transgender people and the Government alike.

& i'll point out that, despite not trying to appease fascism, the dems won with more traditional & progressive candidates

it's about drawing a clear values contrast (the one thing reactionary centrists can't do as they self-consciously put policy compromise first)

An American Tail poster with lil ol mouse immigrant Fievel

It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life
