We also had FIVE different people go undefeated in both of their drafts, including @hardcasting.bsky.social winning at the Okk Corral and then the Urza's saga cube, and after two years with a top 8 with a ton of Seattle players, and two Seattle based champions, these 5 are all from the bay area!

Day two of Cali Cube Champs today! Another round of main event and then we head to top 8/ the other 112 people get to play a fourth for fun draft.

We had 119 butts in seats for draft one yesterday, and 120 for draft two when I hopped in, a full 15 pods of 8!

So I played 5 rounds with 9 lands, and won 4 of them, including one where I never played a second land by turn 5 when the game ended. Truly an amazing night that made me feel so happy with the other 9 friends that came out and talked about everything from Tolstoy to Cardi B in addition to the magic

We drafted a cube with only green and red cards, currently named the Grube, and I ended up in a very low curving mono red deck. I joked while making cuts that I could run a single digit number of lands, and one of my friends dared me to.

I had a rough day with depression and work, but a glass of port, free pizza from a friend who works at a bakery, poorly made mojitos that I ran across the street to grab mint from a neighbor mid draft (after p2 but before Pack3), and ice cream for the table were a big part of making me feel better.

I mostly record my podcast instead of posting all my cube pictures here as often, but tonight was special despite no occasion, so I'm doing a mini thread here.

I literally have cube on my license plate, and play about one new in person cube every 2-3 days. Some of my favorites over the last year have been desert cubes (where you draft lands) and lower powered but not rarity restricted cubes. I jam a lot of mono red into various environments haha

My favorite deck I've drafted in this version of the mtgo cube- all five colors, reanimator aggro midrange flash with a 43rd pick Metamorphosis fanatic, black lotus and 5 of the top 6 one drops in the game? Really felt like a "Jesus take the wheel" kinda 3-0 #mtgcube
