I talked with @astra.bsky.social about the apocalyptic politics of Christian Nationalists and tech oligarchs, how AI is capturing and altering us toward fascist ends, and how we can fight "end times fascism." Audio + transcript:
26.06.2025 14:33 โ ๐ 345 ๐ 124 ๐ฌ 9 ๐ 12On this day, June 26, we honor loveโs triumph and the Unitarian Universalist commitment to the inherent worth and dignity of every person across identities and orientations.
Marriage equality is not simply law, it's an affirmation of justice, joy, and sacred belonging. ๐
Black text on a beige background, decorated with pale pink at the top and a sliver of pale blue at the bottom: "The attacks on trans youth and gender-affirming care have never been about care for young people. This is about enforcing racialized, gendered, cisheteronormative hierarchies through state-sanctioned and extralegal violence, all part of a white supremacist agenda. โFrom 'We Must Fight in Solidarity with Trans Youth'"
Re: Skrmetti and the ongoing attacks on trans youth and gender-affirming care, including in media outlets like NYT: This has never been about care or concern for young people.

09.06.2025 16:12 โ ๐ 399 ๐ 142 ๐ฌ 15 ๐ 2A page from Let This Radicalize You by Mariame Kaba and Kelly Hayes, the chapter called "Violence" in Social Movements, page 111. Under the heading "They Will Call You Violent" the text reads: If your tactics disrupt the order of things under capitalism, you may well be accused of violence, because violence is an elastic term often deployed to vilify people who threaten the status quo. Conditions that the state characterizes as "peaceful" are, in reality, quite violent. Even as people experience the violence of poverty the torture of imprisonment, the brutality of policing, the denial of health care, and many other violent functions of this system, we are told we are experiencing peace, as long as everyone is cooperating. When state actors refer to "peace," they are really talking about order. And when they refer to peaceful protest, they are talking about cooperative protest that obediently stays within the lines drawn by the state. The more uncooperative you are, the more you will be accused of aggression and violence. It is therefore imperative that the state not be the arbiter of what violence means among people seeking justice.
Be careful, friends, when you read accounts of what is happening in LA. We will hear a lot about violence, and it is essential to remember who is defining that term.
"When state actors refer to peace, they are really taking about order..." (@prisonculture.bsky.social and @mskellymhayes.bsky.social)
