Buff-breasted Sandpiper coming into land.
Buff-breasted Sandpiper
Buff-breasted Sandpiper
American Golden Plover
I was out on my bike at Scotney making my way to check on the AGP, when a message came through that a Buff-breasted Sandpiper had been reported in the same field as the AGP by Colin Holter. A few minutes later I was on site watching the bird. Many thanks Colin.

A poor phonescoped image of the American Golden Plover in the MOD enclosure at Jury's Gap this afternoon. Later, while rechecking the Golden Plover flock on the field I discovered 4 Dotteral, 2 ads + 2juvs, but no further sign of AGP. The Dotteral flew off and out to sea at 18.14 #kentbirding

A massive ~12k pairs of Glossy Ibis bred in DoΓ±ana National Park this year with very high breeding success due to good winter rains. Marshes now dry and birds dispersing north aided by favourable winds. Conceivable that some will stay to breed in UK/Ireland in 2026 #UKbirding #Ornithology

A large flock of White Storks was video'd and put on the local wildlife FB page asking for ID. I didn't catch up with those so it was nice when it turned out what must've been 6 of the flock dropped in to the patch. Presumably they had roosted the night before and stayed for a couple of hours before heading off SW. Knepp birds or not, decent to see
The only Wheatear on the patch all year!
Barn Owl at dawn on one of the local wildlife friendly farms. Those fence lines usually turn up a small number of Whinchat, but not this year (so far anyway)
Work & family life has been busy recently restricting local birding. But it's been quiet even when out, just 1 each of Wheatear, Common Redstart & Whinchat locally this Autumn; I'd normally expect multiples across the various local sites. A few highlights from last 3 weeks: #kentbirding #ukbirding

An epic last 90 minutes of the birding day at Sandwich. After a tantalising pallid-looking Swift flew WNW w/Commons, watching Restharrow Scrape produced 11 Cattle Egrets off to roost, followed by c14 Glossy Ibis in from the NNE at 1925, dropping WNW of the Obs π
