I was reusing the code for the switches in the Frog Escape games today and noticed that something was being called weirdly...

It's a 2D platformer where you climb up a single tall level.
It has unique abilities for you to master that I haven't seen in other platformers, like a silk trampoline and a teleporting kite.

Thank you! I think I had fun doing the level design for this game. I mostly drew a bunch of platforming on little post-its and then ordered them and remade them in-game. I combined certain platforms on different post-its to make them all seamlessly connect.

I've been working on some TV screens for the fourth "layer" of Fall Away! There are eight layers in total.
This layer has a new teleporting kite ability and a digital friend who helps you learn to use it!

I added this sign for Copodile.
I started making a logo for the game.
The game's name kept changing until the last minute. "Private Playground" made it all the way to the main menu!
An old version of the thumbnail on Itch. It has the sun in the corner and weird colors.
All that was left to do in the end was make the promotional art, and also to decide which of the 4 potential names to use.

I tested a vignette and chromatic aberration.
Incorrectly applied ambient occlusion.

Film grain, for some reason.
At this point, I went a bit crazy with the effects. The ones used in the final game help you understand your surroundings better.

Vines were added to the robocops to show their age. At this point, I also added the boat to show more of the game's story.
I just made my corn count over 1000 again, the sky turned black, it got hard to see in the distance, the sun cast a pure red light on the world, and from the darkness I thought I saw something. A corn collection effect. As if something else collected corn. Actually it was just a similar-looking explosion but Chicrook has the potential to be terrifying.
The pause menu was added! This became more important later.
At this point, I began messing with the graphics to allow for post-processing effects. I got it all figured out in the end, but it was annoying while it was happening.
Chicrook: Puzzling Playground finally released on December 14th, 2024!
