Kudos to you, parents of that kid. The Lake is right there and you haven't drowned them yet.

I absolutely despise the trend of labeling recipes "sugar free" or "no sugar" when they are loaded with dates, maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, or whatever-the-fuck else that is loaded with sugar. I give a tiny slide to "no added sugar" because it at least admits other ingredients might be sugary.

I started to think "oh, I dodged that one" and then remembered why I stopped reading the Adept series. Now I have to wonder if I dodged it at all.

I know someone will say "well, it's a free pattern..." as an excuse, but it takes a lot of work to make a sewing pattern into a pdf to start with. Taking a minute or two to drop a line drawing/photo/sketch in there is not a huge added effort.

Note to Self: If you ever put out a sewing pattern in pdf, include a line drawing in the actual pattern file.

Hmm. Dreamwidth has suddenly stopped using my external embedded font stylesheet (google fonts). I can load the stylesheet so it's not a broken link. In the mean time I added a font that I actually have installed to the various customizations so at least it's not ugly for ME anymore.

I have been seeing SO MANY 408 timeouts with Flight Rising since I started using a VPN. And it's not like the page take a while to load and then I get it, it's instant. Click link *boom* 408.

When I was a kid recipes for cookies were all "yield: 4 dozen". I just looked at a recipe today that had the audacity to say "yield: 10 cookies".

That seems like an awful effort-to-cookie ratio.

This skein of yarn is cursed.

One spot where a ply was underspun and THICK, 2 places where a ply broke, and 3 knots. The last of which was tied back skipping 2.5 segments in the color sequence. That one, of course, landed smack in the middle of the front of the sweater. 🧶# yarn #crochet

I am deeply envious of people that can sew a garment for themselves from one yard of fabric. Even a tee shirt takes a bit over a yard for me, and I'm not a tank top/cami sort of person. #sewing

Mine are generically ageless "adults". Some are younger adults (Monster High, Wild Hearts Crew) others might be approaching middle age for their species (most of my BJDs), but generally I just don't think about it. The only canon ages I stick to are for characters I made.

I have similar hair and have had the best results with stacked bobs (asymmetric, I varied between collar bone and chin length at the longest) and pixies. I switched to shorter bobs and then pixies as my hair thinned.

Today's pet peeve:

Recipes that do not specify a pan size.

I don't bake so often that I can glance at the ingredients and know what size pan to use. #baking #recipes

A triangular shawl made with Tunisian crochet from the Lamia Wrap pattern by Toni Lipsey. It is a right triangle with the narrow point up and the right angle corner at the bottom left. It is striped with three shades of mottled purple.

When you forget/don't have time for finished photos you end up with something like this. Lamia Wrap pattern by Toni Lipsey, yarn is Lion brand Mandala Ombre in "Chi". Three cakes were used.

Looking for nice patterns for a sweater made with bulky yarn, because that yarn is so pretty and I want to buy some.

Find a cool pattern! Sizes XXS to 4XL! Check the measurements...

I enjoy my progressives, but when I got a new car I found I needed to have the transition zone moved down slightly so I didn't have to tuck my chin to drive. Fortunately it was only a few months before I was due new glasses anyway.

Search criteria every online fabric shop should have:

woven/non-woven (woven/knit/other)
opaque/semi-opaque/translucent/sheer

I hate searching for stretch, bottom weight fabrics and getting pages of jersey when I need a woven. And I am not the translucent pants sort of person either.

I was 49 when I ended up in the ER with no insurance and 13 liters of excess fluid. My heart could not relax because there was literally not enough room for it. I left the hospital after 5 nights, 30 pounds lighter. Thank everything that MI has good medicaid and I was approved while in the hospital.

You and I are about the same age I think, so speaking as a person with heart failure, try not to let the statistics get to you. (Easier said than done, I know.) They are skewed by everyone diagnosed in their 80s. No one has a good 10 year survival rate at that point.

I don't think there are words for how much I want a "Baldwin" tab in my #flightrising hoard. Someplace I can dump all the things I'm okay with transmuting so I don't have to scroll tiny images in a tiny window every time.

I desperately want to #crochet something, or be #knitting , but no WIP is appealing and I have no yarn or pattern that is begging to be used for something new.

I dunno, when your site explodes in size from people wanting a place that isn't Twitter, it seems like it'd be smart to get rid of people actively trying to turn the place into Twitter...especially when your userbase is made up of people provably willing to leave a place that becomes Twitter.
