Today marks ten years to the day since I bought a PS4 to play Witcher 3 on release.

Geralt's stories, through the craft poured into them by CDPR, ignited the spark of realisation that creating games is a worthwhile thing that real people actually do.

Idk... if a developer doesn't care enough to pay actual human storytellers to create a game I sure as hell won't care enough to play it.

Procedural generation is shuffling a deck and dealing from it.

genAI is feeding every card deck you can find, including ones not for the game, into a wood chipper, slapping a handful of the bits on some glue, and pretending its a playable hand.

Nothing beats a lovely website curated by someone who gives a shit. And the only bar for entry for one of those is “giving a shit”. Which humans do.
