Chinaโ€™s clean-energy revolution will reshape markets and politics The worldโ€™s biggest manufacturer now has an interest in the world decarbonising

The US is the world's largest oil and gas producer. Yet, "China is now making more money from exporting green technology than America makes from exporting fossil fuels."

Once again the magisterial position of "don't know/don't care" on a pointless question commands a clear majority of the British public. cc @ciaranm.bsky.social

Lower migration is bad news for the UK economy - UK in a changing Europe Lauren Gilbert argues that migrants to the UK are net fiscal contributors, adding much more to the economy than they take out, and that the recent collapse in immigration will harm the UK's economic p...

"There is simply no sign of a fiscal catastrophe from the 'Boriswave'. Recent migrants are very likely to be employed, paying tax and seem to be contributing to British society..it will help, rather than hurt, Britainโ€™s fiscal position."

Your periodic reminder that mRNA vaccines are a scientific and public health game-changer. Those that have been approved have passed stringent efficacy and safety checks. They protect you and your child against potentially fatal diseases. You may, however, get a sore arm.

Another fruitless conversation this morning. Every time someone mentions that animal agriculture requires more land in aggregate than low animal ag someone chips in about the horrors of crop monoculture ignoring that most crop monoculture (and synthetic N) goes into animal feed.

I have this hypothesis that the amount of malice in any dog is the same as one Standard Metric Wolf, shoe-horned into what is *usually* a much smaller package. Which is why Chihuahuas are the worst: they still think they're wolves, and the body dysmorphia drives them psychotic with rage.

What if there was a consensus on the tax reforms the UK needs?

What if it was backed by policy experts from think tanks across the political spectrum, from the Adam Smith Institute to the Resolution Foundation?

The consensus is real. The question is: will anyone act on it?

Oh my gourd! Tyntesfield near Bristol is giving us pumpkin to talk about.

Around 2,000 pumpkins from more than 50 varieties grown in the Kitchen Garden make up this year's autumn arrangement.

By my calculation, thatโ€™s nine Kent Reform councillors gone since May.
