We bought a CO2 meter for our daughter’s first apt in college. It went off at 2:30 in the morning when the furnace malfunctioned. All five girls got out. Best $ I ever spent.

My parents, now deceased, used to call me for legal advice (retired lawyer, practicing at the time). Mom would then call my brother, a music librarian, to ask if I was right. (Don’t rag on my brother. He told her to ask me.) She would then do what she wanted to in the first place. 🤷‍♀️

My son,when 7, kept misbehaving, so we kept taking toys with wheels away. All were gone for a week, and the kid started singing, “I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride my bike.” We could only silently laugh.

While in the midst of moving and downsizing, we just gave away over 2,000 books. Maybe it will encourage someone to read a banned book or two or twenty.

Adult child (21) asked about our “traditional Christmas Eve fondue and Christmas breakfast.” Little did I know that the recipes chosen for ease and then repeated would become family traditions. I’m better than I knew.

Buy a cookbook with 365 days of recipes. Plan for a few months and rotate. Cook big for a few days’ worth; freeze extras for later. Work eat-out days. Eggs are easy. Keep staples on hand for a few meals of easy recipes. Tons of recipes online. Splurge on something with the money you save.
