the problem the tech CEOs have with their "AI" programs is that they are not intelligent at all, they are just predictive text programs trained on what people have said on the internet, and a lot of people think tech CEOs suck and have talked about their shortcomings and scandals etc

Few big stores in London will have them as well but outside the city you'd struggle to find one

I made a reply but bluesky ate it ;-; I agree. That's why I don't mock the db and use docker compose. If you only care about actual db connection test then yeah use a mem db and then have a small handful of integration at the end to verify. I personally wouldn't want that setup but diff setups yknow

If you just want to test your db connection, and you are happy with a mem db plus different testing mechanisms to an external one then 👍 but you should have post integration test at minimum.

I personally prefer the fidelity of using the external db from the start of a project even if it's slower

For my setup, I rarely see benefits of switching between a memory and external db (without creating a bunch of headaches). If I need fast tests to ignore the db integration, then I can mock the database as part of the testing setup.
