Found a 500GB WD drive that should be compatible for 10€ on a website for classified ads(? I dunno how to translate "Kleinanzeigen") in my country where people sell their old stuff (similar to Craigslist I guess but with a somewhat less sketchy page design)

Another example: I want to upgrade the HDD inside the Xbox 360 but this thing only supports very specific Western Digital HDDs. Listings on Amazon were like 40-80€ for what were basically mechanical 500GB laptop drives.

This pretty much reinforces to me that if you ever considered getting into older consoles or hardware, check local thrift stores and independent (used) video game stores and check out local online listings as you are very likely going to find a better deal than just digging through eBay

Also getting an official phat Xbox 360 power supply for a fraction of what they normally go online at a local store is also wild.

It’s still amazing that the Xbox 360 phat I got for 8 euros at a thrift store pretty much works perfectly fine.
