Why is Labour listening to Tony Blair? Does Keir Starmer look at this and think 'great idea'?

Campsite just outside Machynlleth

We went through Machynlleth. Luckily the campsite (which opened for us out of season after we turned up without a booking and gave them a call) and the local pub had adequate facilities!

i would just like to not pay Β£4 more for a journey from a nearer station to me, when if I cycle another 15 minutes I can save money...

Yes but does seem crazy that if I change to tube at Richmond by grabbing a train from Twickenham it costs so much more

There is no better example of austerity than shutting down public toilets and then wondering why everywhere stinks of piss

This is even worse if you have a Railcard as you get charged Β£8.80 rather than the Β£4.80 it would cost if you had two different cards... as I recently found out...

03.08.2025 12:45 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is because there is no afternoon peak for journeys in to zone 1 from out of zone 1 - so your journey in to Waterloo would be off peak, and then after 7pm it's off peak for tube. But the fare system would count your WHOLE journey as peak if you use the same card at Waterloo.

03.08.2025 12:45 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

An especially egregious example of this... get on the train from Twickenham at 6.40pm on a weekday and go to Waterloo, then change on to tube after 7pm to, say, Canning Town, and it'd be Β£7.30 if you use two separate cards, or Β£8.80 if you use the same card...

03.08.2025 12:44 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

What perplexes me even more is just going Twickenham to Richmond would be Β£3.60 on its own, so you're getting charged more than it'd cost if you were to use two different cards...

TfL peak fares!

Can someone explain why a single from Richmond to Embankment is Β£4.60, but adding one (or two if you count St Margarets) train stops at the beginning to go from Twickenham brings it up to Β£8.80?!

Β£4.20 for an extra four minutes on the train?!

When I cycled through Wales earlier this year we stopped by a public loo for a wee but it charged money, so we cycled out of the town and pissed in a bush

Public toilets in Whitby are β€˜drain’ on council finances with β€˜urgent’ action required Whitby’s public toilets are a β€˜drain’ on the town council’s finances and have resulted in more than Β£85,000 of above income expenditure since 2018.

β€œUnfortunately, the toilets have never made a profit, they have never even been cost neutral.”

Public urged to help catch gangs bringing drugs on β€˜mother ships’ to UK coast Crime agency says there were more than 60 investigations into at-sea drop-offs last year with 34 people arrested

So much time and resources devoted to stopping something that's going to carry on regardless.

Just legalise, regulate, and tax all drugs and take the money out of the hands of criminal gangs.
