Holy shit this is real Soviet/N. Korean style stuff. After the dismal jobs report Trump is going to fire people who compile the data and replace them with hacks. The markets and American people will never be able to trust these numbers again.

A Buddy Guy Interview and Appreciation My in-depth 2018 interview with the blues legend, who was the first musician I ever interviewed, way back in 1986.

Happy 89th birthday to Buddy Guy, the last of the Chicago Kings. Re-upping this interview and appreciation of the guitarist, who holds a special place in my heart as the first musician I ever interviewed.

A free afternoon in Cleveland before a family wedding meant a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with my brother David and sister Laura, my first musical compadres, and checking out the Allman Brothers. Their exhibit space is rather disappointing, but overall pretty cool spot to be sure.

This is why so many of us should have been listening to Black voices and learning far more about the history of racism in America.

All of that led us here. Fascism was already here for many others. And now it’s coming for the rest. If we had fought for others harder, we’d have prevented it.

I am so sad about the fire tearing through the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, destroying the historic hotel and closing trails. I have hiked the GC twice, once from the North and once from the South. Fantastic experiences.

An Interview With Albert King Celebrating the blues giant on the 29th anniversary of his death. Interviewing him was one of the highlights of my career.

What is the single most common mistake young players make with the blues?

ALBERT KING: Overplaying. They play too loud, scream too high, and run too fast. See, when you overplay, you get too loud and people are gonna mistake what you’re doing for a hole in the air.
