I think is far too generous explanation. Follow the money. Who pays their campaigns? Who has their ear? Whose events do they attend? They are the paid Loyal Opposition. This is them DOING THE JOB THEY WERE PAID TO DO!

Durbin isn't running again in 2026. It is why he was one of the Hateful 8. They fronted for a bunch of other conservative (not centrist!) Dems.

I'm old enough to remember what the standards were in the 1960's. By those standards these establishment Dems are at least moderately conservative Republicans. The entire Party has been pushed to the right by the capitulation to the same paymasters are the Republicans. Time to reverse that trend.

And be forced into retirement by a humiliating electoral defeat, or the clear prospect of the same. At least that is what my angry, but sober self wants, in lieu of the more direct approach of just wringing some scrawny old necks...

In this cave-in we see the corporate Dem Establishment laid bare. The paid Loyal Opposition, working for the same paymasters as R's, tasked with surrending, bleating about bipartisanship, and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Occasional, grudging, partial wins to maintain their cover.

The Indivisible Maryland Coalitionβ€”a network of 49 grassroots groups statewideβ€”is calling out Senate President Bill Ferguson for refusing to move forward with redistricting in response to Republican-led gerrymandering nationwide. The coalition argues Ferguson’s inaction weakens Maryland’s Democratic supermajority, silences state lawmakers, and undermines efforts to defend democracy. They urge Maryland leaders, including Governor Wes Moore and the General Assembly, to show courage and act decisively to protect fair representation and counter GOP map-rigging.

The Indivisible Maryland Coalition urges immediate action on redistricting to counter Republican-led gerrymandering in other states. They call on Governor Wes Moore to convene a special legislative session and for the General Assembly to assert Maryland’s authority to protect fair representation.
They emphasize that Senate President Bill Ferguson can still reverse course by supporting mid-decade redistricting rather than maintaining inaction.
The coalition calls on Maryland residents to pressure Ferguson and their legislators to back a special session, arguing that delay until 2026 would forfeit a key chance for Democrats to defend democracy nationwide.
The statement concludes that Ferguson must stop blocking his own party and take a stand for democracy β€” Marylanders deserve leadership and action.

Thank you to the Indivisible Maryland Coalition for calling out a powerful Democrat's attempts to block Democrats' redistricting push in his state. GOP states are rigging the midterm maps nationwide and Maryland must act to level the playing field β€” our democracy needs fighters, not bystanders.
