Oh @alaskaairlines.bsky.social - first time I've flown with you in years but hampered by basic usability issues on your site. 1st example: the calendar that shows up with pricing if you pick flexible dates is just pricing roulette. 2nd: a seat selector where you can't pick seats.

At this point they might as well put "In Trump we Trust" on the currency and dispense with the traditional deity altogether.

Malley is absolutely correct that the US needs to to stop rubber-stamping Israeli policy.

I was, however, disappointed in his lack of a counter-proposal to a 2-state solution. "The US should put it's foot down and push for…"

what exactly?

(I remain convinced that this conflict will outlive me)

A funky attack vector just occurred to me. Assume an organization automatically disables logins after a number of failed attempts. If one could get a full user list, particularly admin users, then execute failed logins for all users to brick access to the entire system.

Shame really is the missing link isn't it? The right has apparently lost the right to feel it themselves, though they will miss no opportunity to shame others. Roy Cohn's ethos requires no error ever be admitted and as we all know, there can be no learning or growth without that.

Having lived through and participated in at least 5 tectonic shifts in computing (PCs, GUIs, client-server, the internet, & mobile), my personal and professional take is that generative AI is in the same league.

Imagine the difference between an Apple II and today's MacBook and apply that to AI.

Gartner hype cycle with marker just before the peak of inflated expectations labeled "you are here…"

Yes and no. Yes in that some companies are trying to shoe-horn AI into every nook and cranny of their products even when it doesn't add value. No in that many consumers are actively seeking out AI solutions to tedious problems. Also yes that tech can't afford to lose.

America has two economiesβ€”and they’re diverging fast | Brookings Red and blue America dramatically represent different segments of the economy. Here is what you need to know.

"It’s hard to imagine the current extreme shifts going much farther. The concentration of more than 70% of the nation’s professional & digital services economy in the territory of one party would seem to register an almost unsustainable degree of polarization."

The way this worked (long ago) was:

1. Write an extremely detailed job description based on the H1B applicant's obscure academic work.
2. Publish the job in the most obscure publications, preferably those that had a very limited overlap with the qualifications
3. Get zero applicants

I've seen it done in SV for decades (by former employers). It can also lead to a system of indentured servitude because the H1Bs have very limited job mobility.

At the end of the day however, it still benefits the US to hire top foreign students who are graduating into the workforce.

@schumer.senate.gov "hoping" that POTUS will negotiate with you is just utterly, despondently, weak. If you're not willing to lead then it's time to step down as minority "leader."

You already bolloxed up the last negotiations in the spring and got nothing.

OMG - the judge in Florida just sua sponte struck the complaint in the Trump v NYT case for -wait for it - violating Rule 8.

Lawyers, tell the folks at home how hard it is to get the complaint struck outright for something like that in fed eral court.

Also the foundations of Houston's skyscrapers are most likely below sea level - can't tunnel under them for drainage in any scenario.

The math is not mathing well for Musk here - 18% of the drainage capacity at 16% of the cost.

But here are more problems for Houston in either case, Houston is ~50' above sea level, shouldn't the *bottom* of any drainage tunnel be above sea level (+ tide). Unless ginormous pumps are also planned?
