Do you have a better image of this phylogeny from your 2021 YouTube presentation?

What do you think of this new facial reconstruction of Homo longi?

Where is the link to the raw data for the study in the ENA (European Nucleotide Archive)? The ENA Project ID isn't given in the study.

Neanderthal-Denisovan ancestors interbred with a distantly related hominin The ancestors of Neanderthals and Denisovans interbred with hominins who had been separate since the beginning of the Pleistocene.

Could the possible plesiomorphies in Homo longi (the Denisovans) that cause the clade to cluster with Homo antecessor be the result of admixture with a 'โ€œsuperarchaicโ€ population that separated from other humans about 2 million years ago' that was likely Homo erectus?

How do you reconcile the proteomic data for Homo antecessor that places it as an early sister clade to Homo sapiens, Neanderthals, and Denisovans (now Homo longi) and your placement of Homo antecessor in a Homo longi clade? is it due to plesiomorphies in Homo longi?

Body size, body proportions, and encephalization in a Middle Pleistocene archaic human from northern China The unusual discovery of associated cranial and postcranial elements from a single Middle Pleistocene fossil human allows us to calculate body proportions and relative cranial capacity (encephalizatio...

@gutsickgibbon.bsky.social We also have a height and weight estimate for a female Homo longi (Jinniushan):
pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
"Reconstructed stature using this formula is 168.78 ยฑ 4.30 cm."
"we have used the mean of these two estimates, 78.6 kg, as the estimated body weight"

@gutsickgibbon.bsky.social For Homo longi we have 7 complete or partial skulls (crania), 3 jawbones (maxillae), 5 molars, 6 vertebrae (1 cervical, 5 thoracic), a left os coxae (pelvic bone), a left ulna (lower arm bone), a left patella (kneecap), two left ribs, and several hand and feet bones.

@gutsickgibbon.bsky.social if this is true, and all these remains are Homo longi, then we have substantial remains, including postcranial remains:

The new phylogenetic image from the Stringer and Ni et al. (2025) preprint now labels the clade with Harbin and the Denisovans as the "Longi Clade":

However, he is also ancestral for 2 SNPs that Denisova8, Denisova2, Denisova19, Denisova20, and Denisova21 have C1008T and G1018A (M71 has no reads for these positions).
Therefore he's earlier in the phylogeny than all these "early" Denisovans, who form a new subclade as the tree in the study shows.

DN MTree

About the Harbin mtDNA result:
Harbin has 27 homozygous Denisovan mtDNA SNPs and so is in the DN mtDNA clade in YFull, but also has 2 SNPs that define the DN2 clade, G94A and C11623T.
These are the earlier Denisovans as the study states:

โ€œDragon manโ€ prompts rethinking of Middle Pleistocene hominin systematics in Asia Chibanian (Middle Pleistocene) hominin fossils that could not be easily assigned to Homo erectus, H.ย neanderthalensis, or H.ย sapiens have traditionally been assigned to an all-inclusive group: โ€œarchai...

Apparently the names Homo sapiens daliensis and Homo erectus mapaensis were tentative, and Homo daliensis and Homo mapaensis were never published.
All these names are unavailable and according to ICZN rules, the species name of the holotype for Denisovans is Homo longi:
