Let’s talk about ‘whoa.’

First of all, ‘woah’ is not yet considered an established spelling variant of ‘whoa.’

While ‘woah’ has grown in prevalence since the late 20th century, ‘whoa’ is still about 5 times as common as ‘woah.’

I stop responding and mute the person, unless the person is actively hostile, in which case I block.

In recent months I’ve heard an editor say, in a tone that suggested they assumed I already knew because it was something happening across the board, that it was hard to get readers to engage with immigration stories rn.

If we want this fixed we have to fix it.

Paying for news helps, but it’s usually not sufficient, because those outlets are still making decisions all the time about what to cover. If you’re subscribing but not reading, or if what you’re reading isn’t what made you subscribe to begin with, you’re creating incentives you don’t want followed.

If Dems win in 2026, we need hearings to publicize the abuses by federal law enforcement. Then pass a bill creating a path to sue for those abuses. Trump will veto it. Let him. Let the public see these videos & hear from victims, & then learn there's no way to hold the abusive officers accountable.
