I’m still at my Help Desk job and sometimes i can push myself out of the burnout. But having to deal with it has been hard because i have no desire to continuously learn things for CyberSecurity

Been a while since i last posted but to my Cybersecurity acquaintances, i am almost positive my current Help Desk job burned me out of wanting to do IT period. I have no desire to learn or play with anything outside of work and i know how crucial that is for CS. How did you battle burnout?

Update: anyone got a couple grand hiding in their couch cushions?😂

Re-Igniting my passion to drum again has been awesome. Realizing how expensive being a drummer is? Not so awesome😬

LOL i try to encourage password managers as much as i can. Currently the company ship is sinking so i’m trying to get tf out of there before it sinks completely

Also my company users would rather do ANYTHING but try and keep themselves secure online… lookin at you user with Password1…

We had to recently start doing these. We had about 15 users fall for a PDF that asked for credentials. We’re a 2 person IT department for about 400 users. I run the entire Help Desk essentially. We had to start doing the simulations just to teach our users to be more observant.

I’m finally getting into the hobby of Cybersecurity and Networking outside of work and it’s so fun. Just need that first cybersecurity job… i’m finally understanding terms i didn’t know even 2 years ago. My boss said last year was my biggest year of growth. After 6! Years in the Help Desk field.

If it can translate conversation in real time, this would be INCREDIBLE. Especially when traveling to other countries OR for hearing impaired individuals. But it’s full of AI slop like everything else that won’t help.

Not enough people care about their online security. It’s scary. I was one of those exact people for a while until i took a couple hours, and changed every single one of my passwords to something i can’t even memorize. I would rather have security over ease of access.

Thank you for this! I have been Help Desk for 6 years and over the last year have started my learning path for CyberSecurity and trying to find my first job in the field currently. Just got my first cert in the summer for it! I’m trying to sponge up as much knowledge as I can :)
