when you're used to i3/sway and that whole workflow, macos feels annoyingly laggy

🀷 honestly idk, the only reason i switched was because ghostty supports the image protocol for rendering images to the terminal, which is nice for some of the little apps ive been tinkering with

yeah its absurd. i know you need to justify having such a powerful cpu on the google docs machine, but please dear god just let me use it for compiling not animating every keypress

now: sway, neovim, chromium, ghostty, pacman

package management is trash, window managers are bad, general software compatibility is mid, and theres an inherent lagginess in the whole OS that really grates on me when i'm actually trying to be productive.

Yeah, i don't mind having it as my dedicated zoom and google docs device. Can't write code on it though

yeah, recently made the switch. Still using my macbook for video calls, but now i take the framework from home to office as my 'portable desktop'. It works great.

I could probably get video calls working on the framework but i like airpods and how easy they are too much

I am not a lawyer but I assume you will need to be compliant with the laws of whatever jurisdictions you operate in. Age verification is done at the app/pds level so if you are implementing your own solution, it will need to be done at those layers. We assume self hosters are doing what they need to

Yeah, its pretty straightforward these days to use the network without any services run by the company

Note to self, when updating your computer make sure your feed server database comes back online before checking out for the day and not checking the app until Saturday πŸ˜…

yeah, i feel similarly. either its lightweight and unobtrusive and you have a better API for it. or your keyboard needs to be taken from you.

I've still only written generic code twice 🀷

Though the generic hashicorp cache implementations are great i'll admit

Theres a tension in some Go libraries between being easy to pick up and use, and being robust enough to work well in more extreme conditions. Like Gorm, its great if you just need some basic database interactions, but as time goes on you will find yourself ripping it out for raw sql
