perhaps this is less related than I think... but it also reminds me of discussions I've had with friends about how it feels many men who like "strong women" actually like "women they perceive as strong so they feel even more powerful when dominating them or enforcing gender roles".

I wish I could say I've found it to be bi-partisan. I've seen republican adoptive (and self-proclaimed christian) parents lament the situation... but then imply they'd allow their child to be deported. I've also been told flat out by republicans that I shouldn't be in this country.

yeah - I HOPE it works the way she shows. I'm a bit sensitive to some of the TikTok trends that inspire people without giving actual real useful instruction. There's a culture of "fake thing that you need to live up to" growing and it's just potatoes, but it still irks me.

Yeah, same. Regardless of the video person's final claim... if it was a condemnation of addons etc it would make more sense if it started with "black coffee, please". But, like with all media, we view things through a personal lens and all that entails.

What DOES work, in my experience, is using frozen hashbrowns. Season, bind with some egg, oil the machine, waffle.

Most home cooks won't use the huge amount of butter this requires. Not sure the pats she shows melts down to the amount shown filling the wells later. That's critical for browning/sticking. And smoosh the potato before you put it in and spread it otherwise no way do you get full squares like that.

Real talk from someone who's waffled a lot of things - there's some TikTok trickery here. You can see the video cut from the full tater to when it closes fully and from butter pat to melt. The potato is already smooshed/spread in the machine. If you want to make this work close to what she shows...
