Apparently, he’s in a lot of debt, according to La Presse (I knew my rudimentary French knowledge was good for something). Wonder if he has a fat insurance policy on her? Or maybe he just wanted to stop paying child support. 😡

And her dad is the prime suspect, meaning it’s highly likely that there was a murderer walking around town here, planning the crime. You never know when you might walk by a murderer when you’re just going out for lunch.

Everyone around you is living their own story, all of these people you walk by on the street. Including a little girl who had dinner not far from my office, then was left in a ditch, dead, just an hour or two later in the North Country. It’s weird to think about, how your life intersects others.

It really seems like videoconferencing is bad for collaboration. You can’t just pipe up with an idea without raising your hand, and you can’t use subtle body language to figure out who’s going to speak up when a question is asked. So everyone sits there on mute, waiting for someone else to speak.

Stupid question, because I haven’t been able to pay adequate attention to the news lately: How should I prioritize supporting public media? Options are PBS, the local PBS station, NPR, and the local NPR station. Where’s the best place to put donations?

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.
